April 9, 2001
One week ago tomorrow, Wes loaded our car with boxes and hit the road. 2200 miles and three days later, he arrived in Los Angeles. He has been there for 3 days now and has already had one interview. He has turned in lots of resumes, and started checking out apartments.
We have just finished spring break and it was only mildly exciting. On Thursday, we visited the Zoo Atlanta. We do have quite a nice zoo. We have recently acquired two giant pandas and this was our first time seeing them. Anne didn't really care what we saw. She enjoyed the walking around being somewhere new part, but could really care lass about any interesting creatures. Aaron on the other hand had a wonderful time seeing all the animals. He really likes elephants. I don't know why, but he knows elephants and has for quite some time. As luck would have it the first animal we visited was the elephants. There were three and Aaron was mesmerized. He kept referring to a "baby," but they all looked the same to me. We saw lions, tigers, pandas, otters, rhinos, zebras, monkeys, apes, etc. I took a lot of video to send to Wes. Most of it was just silliness. I participated in an African dance and made, I suspect, quite a fool of myself, though that was not recorded for posterity.
If animal antics at the zoo was not exciting enough, Aaron organized a trip to the emergency room Saturday night. Aaron drank furniture polish. Why? It's Aaron, why not? I thought I got at least get to see everyone's favorite ER Pediatrician, Dr. Ross, but I was sorely disappointed. The doctor was very nice, but SHE was not my type. Aaron has such a good time that the next day he tried to get a hold of the Windex. He failed, but today he succeeded at securing a drink of a less deadly, but more offensive concoction--toilet water. What is it with him?
You have noticed, I'm sure that much has been said of Aaron, but very little of Anne. Anne has not been the naughty of the two this week, but she has done a few things worth telling about. For instance, she now has a partner in crime. Her name is Kacie. Kacie is a perfect stair step in between Aaron and Anne. They are all three buddies, but Anne and Kacie have a special bond--their bellies. In their little world they greet one another by showing their tummies. It is quite cute. When we are visiting my MIL they play together. They also get in trubby--Kacie's special way of saying trouble--together. It is great that Anne has her first little female friend.
Anne also likes to accessories. She really believes that accessories make the out fit. For instance, for a casual look, plastic jewelry will do just fine. Mardi Gras beads will go with anything. If beads are not available what also works well is a length of ribbon, a chain from a wallet (attached walled is optional), ordinary workman's ear plugs on a chain, or just about anything of the like draped over the shoulders. For a more formal, evening ware look there are a variety of options. If you want something heavy for winter ware a pillowcase stole works well. A lighter, more versatile option in a yard of toilet paper. It can be worn over the shoulders in a casual manner in place of the above mentioned Mardi Gras beads, or across the shoulders and draped over the arms as a light weight formal stole. At a later date, we'll get into hats, bracelets, and creative uses for someone else's underwear.
Thanks for coming by are reading today. Have a great week!
Jenna
