Friday night we took Kirk, Aaron, and Anne to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate Kirk's birthday. I knew Kirk would love it, and thought Aaron might find a thing or two to amuse himself, but I was not prepared for how much fun all the kids had. Aaron could have cared less if the rest of us were there. He played on everything. Anne and I got in the ball bath for a few min, but as much as she wanted to do everything, there were to many bratty, ill-raised children there. We got there at 6pm. I was sure there would be a line, but we got right in and there was no one there. By 7, the place was packed. We got our food fast, and it was good. It was tough to get the kids to eat. Kirk stood on his chair the entire time and Aaron said "No pizza. Play." Actually, Anne had no problem eating. Anne ate hot wings and olives. Who'd have thought? Just for the record, we did not give Anne the hot wing, she snuck and took it off the plate.
At Chuck E. Cheese there is this big tunnel-y play thing like at McDonald's but bigger. Aaron fell in love with it. It starts on one side of the restaurant goes up and across the ceiling and down in a slide, or you can keep going and come down on this multi level net thing. We were a little worried about Aaron feeling overwhelmed or getting lost, but Aaron fell in love. He went up, down, over, through, and back again. Anne really wanted to be a little more independent, but I would not let her. She got to ride a few rides and get in the ball bath. It was quite tricky just getting into the ball bath with her. We got in and I sat down with her in my lap. She didn't really have to play or anything. She was just thrilled to be there. The funny thing was that she kept sinking down into the balls. In a year, she'll be Aaron's size and will be able to play like he did. I'm not in to much of a hurry to get there, but it will be fun.
