(Please give me 2004 as an option!!!)
This entry is just a list of words Jake knows and things he does. It's partially inspired by Leslie, who just did this with words Ella knows, but it's mostly because Jake is a little delayed in his speech and I want to track his progress. He's fine in all other departments, just isn't much of a talker. When we were at his 18 month check-up I told the doctor Jake doesn't say much, and he asked me how many words he had. "10?" He asked. "No, more like 20 or 30" I said, then wondered if I was lying, because I hadn't counted before. I was relieved once I counted that he did, indeed, have about 30 words. As long as he shows improvement between now and his 2 year appointment, we don't have to worry. If he doesn't, we'll start thinking about speech therapy or whatever.
Words he says clearly:
Mama
Nana
Dada
Pa
Nannie
bye bye
this
that
book
ball
more
bottle
bath
no
star (and he recognizes both stars in the sky, and the star shape.)
Words he says that my mom or I can understand:
Elmo
moon
light
dark
chip
juice
drink
bump
fish
mine
Lana
Ryan
baby
flower
Animal (or character or object) Jake has sounds for (instead of words. If we ask him what these things are, he responds with the sounds):
The Count (ah ah ah)
duck
lion / alligator (roar)
chicken (and he knows that chicken is an animal and a meat. When I have a chicken nugget, he goes "brock brock?")
car
sheep
cow
puppy
elephant
Sesame Street Characters he can point out of a group:
Ernie
Rubber Duckie
Bert
Bernice (Bert's pigeon)
Elmo
Grover
Zoe
Rosita
The COunt
Big Bird
Snuffy
Radar (Big Bird's teddy bear)
Telly
Baby Bear
Some Phrases he responds (correctly) to:
Find your shoes
Give me a hug
Come here
Blow me a kiss
Close the door
Throw this away
Where's the puppy?
Put your toys away
Bring me a diaper
Do you want this? (yes/no)
Stand up
Lay down
Get your pillow
Walk up to the house
Get in your carseat
