Jennie L's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 19, 2000

Well, I wouldn't say that we're experiencing the terrible two's. However, I've noticed that in the last couple of weeks, my dear Nathan has become ultra-possessive of his belongings. I know that it is very normal for all toddlers to go through. It's just strange. As soon as he sees that someone has something that belongs to him, whether he plays with it or not, he screams bloody murder until he gets it from them.

Yesterday at the playground he stood watch over one of the playground toys and hollered at any child who dared to approach it. At first I found it humorous and thought that it would be short-lived since the play area is so cool. But he stayed there for the longest time, around 30 minutes, and wouldn't let anyone touch his precious area. What really makes him mad is that his sister races to this new toy that he got for his birthday and always beats him to it. She won't let him have his turns even though it is his toy. She just turned 5, so I use that to get her away from it. The toys recommended ages are from 2 to 4 years, so she is a bit big for it. But it sure is annoying when we come home from being out and she runs to it and plays and as soon as he gets up the steps and realizes what she's got, it all begins! It will always be like that between siblings, though, right??

Last weekend, Nathan got to visit his little girlfriend, Rachel. She lives in Michigan. They had a great time together. They spend a lot of time hugging when they aren't playing in the sandbox or running through fallen leaves! They are very cute together. She is also 2 years old. She and her family moved from Ohio to Michigan last year and we've all missed them a lot. Especially the kids.
