Jennie L's Diary Entries

September 25, 2000

Nathan loves babies!!! A week from last Sunday, he met our friends' brand new baby girl. They have three boys and were very happy about their fourth being a girl. Nathan, who will be 2 on Friday the 29th, hasn't quit mentioning her since he met her. "Baby Abby"... he walks around the house talking about her and wondering when he will see her again. He is that way with any child that is his size or smaller. He has unlimited kisses for anyone who fits into that category!

His love for babies has recently made his bedtime so very easy. He sleeps with two old dolls, a boy and a girl, and when it is bedtime, we tell him that it's time for him to put his babies to bed. So, he grabs the babies and walks to his crib. We put him in with the babies and he insists on being covered up with all three of his blankets. Then we tell him to be oh so quiet so that the babies will be able to sleep. He nods and says "night, night". That's it! He either goes immediately to sleep or quietly plays himself to sleep. Had I known bedtime could be so easy, I would have tried it a while back.

Nathan was always a drooler. From day one, slobber city! About six months ago he quit drooling. All teeth were in by then except his 2-year molars, so we assumed we were good to go for a while. Only for that six months and now he's back at it. Yuck! It just runs to his sweet chin and hangs and hangs before finally dripping on his clothes, which are drenched all day long. Bibs don't even work because he soaks them through in record time. I'm hoping that by the time he's a teenager that the drooling will stop. But, then, I guess he'll be drooling over girls by that time. Maybe I should save his bibs ... .
