Jenni's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

July 22, 2004

I bet you thought I was gone for good. Things just aren't the same around here since the last round of non updating.

Well our summer is going by pretty slow. I guess I"m lazy and when it comes right down to it I'm pretty shy so I let that get in the way of Kevin getting to do to much. Kevin is my polar opposite.

We did the reading program at our local library and we are still working on the reading program for the library in my home town. Today we will go and finish up and get our free book.

We also participated in our block party for the street we live on. This is the third year they've had it but the first year we've gone. It was okay, I don't think we know anyone any better than before. We hung out with the people we already know. Kevin had a great time and he played a lot with a boy that lives close to us. I was glad to see that this kid stuck to Kevin like glue and that he didn't have any other friends in the neighborhood either.

This week Kevin is in vacation bible school at the church were he went to preschool. He seems to love it and I find myself wishing it was longer. This church still funds it's VBS program with donations but they put on a great program. The kids get a snack everyday and they even gave each kid a CD of the songs they will be singing at the program.

Since school has ended Kevin has lost both of his top teeth. He's been keeping busy by playing in the backyard, watching his favorite tv programs and reading his library books. We've been slacking off on the hooked on phonics but hope to get back into the groove with it. Since my Aunt died and we've been selling a lot of her things on EBAY we have to run back and forth to my hometown so besides doing the reading program both Kevin and Maxx get to see Grammy and Grumps a lot and have gotten to play with the neighbors grandchildren. Kevin also gets to go on walks with the lady who lives next door to my parents while she walks her foster dog.

Maxx has been growing like a weed and so is his vocabulary. He still will only say the beginings of words but it's a start. He names lots of different things but he doesn't put word together yet. What a difference from Kevin who was talking in complete sentences by this age. Since Maxx is still more like a baby we have let him keep his baby curls. Since I have let them go this long I'm going to have a hard time letting go of them when the time comes to give him a "boy" haircut.

Maxx has a fondness for hats and wears them all backwards. He also loves music and to dance. He likes to sit in the chairs at our kitchen table and read books. Maxx LOVES books, he's always going and getting as many as he can carry and wanting us to read to him.

Kevin and Maxx are playing together more and more. There is definate sibling rivalry between them, especially when it comes to me. If one is on my lap the other has to try to be there also.

Tom and I are doing pretty well, no fights lately (maybe a big one coming soon?). Tom has been working a lot so we haven't seen him , maybe that's why.

I actually got to go out with my neighbor to a movie and for dessert. It was so nice, I hope we get to do that more often I think it really helps my frame of mind.

So that's our summer so far~ stay tunned!
