A Long Overdue Update On Us-
May 13, 2004

The last entry I was able to post here was back in February so I’m sorry if I repeat any info here that I posted on the entries that are on my TTM board or that were on my Blog.

Maxx has changed so much, where did my little baby go? Maxx weighs around 27 lbs. but that is all I know, I still haven’t taken him for his 15 month check up. I swore I wouldn’t get behind with the 2nd child but there is never a good time to make the appointment and when I finally did remember to call it was between shift changes and no one answered the phone. Anyway now he needs to go for his 15 AND 18 month appointments. We haven’t gotten his hair cut yet, he has the cutest blond curls. Tom wants to cut it so people don’t mistake him for a girl but I hesitate because once we cut them off they’re gone!

I am still nursing 2-3 times a day, usually after he wakes up and then before nap and bed times. I need to wean him but it is so nice being able to settle him down before bed that way. The other reason is that Maxx will probably be the last baby I nurse. I hate these transition times! I need to do it though because my migraines are getting worse and I can’t take any of the migraine medications while I’m nursing him. Maxx is still a pretty good eater and will try most anything. Chicken and ham seem to be the only meat he likes and with vegetables it varies from day to day. He seems to like all fresh fruit and last week he was even eating watermelon with a fork! He’s not doing too well with a spoon (although he tries) but he seems to do okay with a fork. We still can’t tell whether he will be right handed or left handed he still doesn’t seem to favor either. By the time Kevin was nine months old we could tell he was going to be a lefty. Some of Maxx’s favorite foods are raisin bran crunch, custard style yogurt, and cottage cheese, any kind of noodle, tomatoes, blueberries, strawberries, and black beans. He also LOVE’S to dip French fries in ketchup.

Maxx is talking more all the time. He says mama, dada, “b” (for brother), papa (grandpa), wa-wa (for any kind of drink), choo choo, eye, eyebrow, cheek, gaga (cracker and quack), door door, doo doo (Scooby doo), berry, no, poo poo, belly, big bird, baby and ball. I’m sure there’s more but that’s all that comes to mind now.

Maxx has finally decided he likes to watch TV. He likes Teletubbies, Sesame Street, Maisy, and Scooby Doo. For some reason he LOVES Scooby Doo, probably because that’s what big brother likes! Maxx and Kevin are playing together more and more. Maxx loves to play with all Kevin’s toys, now if we could only get Kevin to share them! Maxx’s favorites are rescue heroes, cars, and Thomas trains.

Maxx has finally mastered crawling up and down stairs but he is so slow we get frustrated and usually pick him up. He has also learned how to take his clothes off and sometimes it’s a huge fight to get clothes on by the time I get him dressed he’s a big sweaty crying mess. Maxx also loves to give hugs and kisses. When he gives kisses he makes a EWWWAHHH sound as he puckers up and then he lays his head down on you for a hug and says AWWWW.

Now on to Kevin~ Kevin has two weeks left of preschool; I can’t believe that next year he will be away from me five days a week all day long. That is going to be a big change for both of us but it will probably bother me more. This whole neighborhood thing is bothering me more and more too. Most of the people live down the street from us and they let their kids play outside alone which is something I am afraid to do. Kevin is so friendly I’m afraid he would go off with anyone and since he has missed out on playing with these kids I’m afraid he won’t have any friends around here. There is one little boy who lives two houses away but Kevin and this little boy don’t always get along. This little boy really knows how to push Kevin’s buttons and sometimes Kevin can be a little too aggressive. Why do I feel like I’m reliving MY childhood????

Kevin has finally mastered riding a two wheeled bike and every time he goes out the door he’s on the bike and off down the street. He also loves his scooter and playing with the basketball net he got for Christmas. We also have Kevin signed up for T-ball this summer and then I think I’ll put him in tae kwon do after that.

Kevin is still doing okay in preschool, in fact, every time I pick him up he is talking about the “sprinkler party” he is having. I don’t know where he got this idea but he has been talking about it and planning it for months. So I guess we will be having some kind of party after preschool ends.

Other than that, Kevin is driving me completely crazy! He knows all the buttons to push with me and I seem to be more sensitive lately. I hate the way I’m handling it, I can’t believe some of the things I say. Right before I say them I think to myself “Don’t, that’s so mean” but it comes out anyway. It reminds me of the way my dad used to treat us as kids but I seem so helpless to stop.

Tom and I are doing okay. He planned a whole mother’s day weekend getaway to Memphis. I wrote all the details on my blog so you can check that out. My Aunt who got diagnosed with lung cancer was doing better after her radiation and chemo but all of a sudden she got really confused and was having trouble walking and has been diagnosed with two brain tumors. She also has bone cancer in her arm and now possibly in her hip. It’s amazing how fast this has happened.

My poor parents, one night they came over to baby sit so we could go out for our 7th anniversary and then the couldn’t get in touch with my aunt so they went right there and then my brothers wife went into labor so they had to go baby sit for my niece for three days straight (right after they left my Aunt’s). Since then they have had to take care of my aunt and baby-sit for my niece because the new baby had to have heart surgery. Part of his aorta was too narrow so that part had to be cut out and then sewn back together. It seems like everyone is falling apart! Luckily the new baby seems to be doing okay and my Dad’s other sister was able to move in with my Aunt who has the cancer so at least my parents will have a bit of a break.

In more trivial matters~ What in the world am I going to do a 7 p.m on Thursday night? I was really sad to see Friends end. I thought they did a nice job of rapping things up at least they didn’t do a Seinfeld or a Mad about You ending, I was really disappointed with those. Hopefully Matt Leblanc’s new show will be well written. Can you believe The Bachelor this time around? I think they’ve ruined it. I have also become addicted to Sex and the City. I’ve been busy renting each season and am almost done with season four. Better late than never, I guess.

Next week I have two rehearsals and a band concert, I’ll write more about that in my blog. On Sunday my Mom and I are going flower shopping, I haven’t planted anything yet so I am really looking forward to it. This year I’ve made a list of things we’ll need and I’ve decided to for go my usual petunia theme and try something new. If you have any suggestions on anything that is virtually maintenance free let me know. I like to do red and white in the front but in the back I’m going to go for a full rainbow effect.

What we are reading:
Maxx~Once upon a potty by Alona Frankel, Maxx LOVES this book and I even found a Joshua and Prudence potty at Target. He hasn’t officially used it yet but he likes to sit on it.
Mr. Brown can moo, can you? By Dr. Seuss

Kevin~ Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis, Kevin seems to have lost interest a little bit but he still asks me to read to him.

Jenni~ Mr. Timothy by Louis Bayard, The story of Tiny Tim when he grows up. This is very Caleb Carr and I am just not in the mood for this one right now. I keep reading a few pages here and there.
