We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you ... you get the idea!
Well, we're back home and had a lovely holiday. While we were in Florida, Chris and I had the chance to get out and see a few movies on our own. We also took Jacob to the zoo. They had a little boardwalk running through the whole park, and since we were the only ones there (it was a chilly morning), we let him walk instead of riding in the stroller. He must've walked about 1/3 of a mile, and loved every minute of it! He was so busy he didn't notice too many of the animals, though he did like the monkeys (go figure).
Christmas at the "South Pole" was Saturday morning, and we all made out like bandits. Jacob's first gift was a Kiddie Dirt Devil Vacuum, which was perfect for him. Did I mention our son has a vacuum fetish? He dances with ours, and Grandpa and Meme's. He liked it so much, he didn't pay any attention to his other gifts. Until we opened the ones that made noise, that is.
Our flight left at 6:30 that night, and Jake did a little better. We gave him some Benedryl (to knock him out) before the flight, on the pediatrician's recommendation. He was pretty fussy before takeoff and landing, but I think he was scared. He didn't exactly have a pleasant experience the first time around.
We got home about midnight, and were SO ready to climb in our beds, but the house was freezing! Apparently it was extremely cold while we were gone. Our pipes were frozen shut, too. We put a heater on the pipes, and crawled into our bed (with a chilly and overtired baby) to get warm. Luckily, it didn't take too long for the house to warm up. Unfortunately, I awoke at 5:30 a.m. yesterday to find we still had no water. Got Chris up an hour later, and we ended up calling the landlord over. It took two space heaters, a hairdryer and acetalene torch to defreeze the pipes. Then we spent the day trying to get ready for today, but didn't get far. I had a terrible headache (from lack of sleep and food), and Chris because he was watching football, hoping for the Jets and Colts to lose and the Steelers (of course) to win so they could make the playoffs ... two out of three ain't bad (Colts won).
Today was great. Santa's big gift was a Little Tikes Climb & Slide. He spent half the day on it, and again, didn't pay much attention to his other gifts (unless they made noise). He does like the football, though I think it's more for Chris, haha. Our families came over for dinner this afternoon and there was the usual chaos of handing out and unwrapping gifts, which Jake thoroughly enjoyed. It was so much fun to watch him with all his family, even if they do spoil him rotten!
It was definitely a Merry Christmas for us.
Jen & Jacob =)
