Jen B's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

December 17, 2000

I'm writing this from sunny Florida, though it's not sunny right now (it's about 11:00 p.m.). It's so nice to be on vacation. Of course, my "work" comes with me, but it's a lot easier when Chris is around to help out. Grandparents are lots of fun and help, too!

Our flight (out of Newark) left on time Friday evening, though it seemed to take forever to actually take off. Jake got impatient being strapped in the seat with me, but settled down once I could unbuckle us. He did really well, too -- until he got airsick, that is. All over himself, and me. And of course, I neglected to pack an extra outfit for either of us in our carry-on bags. Ugh. We ended up stripping Jake, and I cleaned up the best I could. Why is it whenever Jacob gets sick (which, thankfully isn't often), he does it on me?!?!?!

Anyway, about 10 minutes after we got him cleaned up and settled back in my lap with one of the airplane blankets, he fell asleep. And he stayed asleep, all through disembarking, luggage claim and the ride to FIL's house. Poor lil' guy. I envied him a little bit, though, since I'd been up since 5 a.m., and had to spend those three hours smelling like puke. So far, most of our lil' vacation has consisted of watching football and shopping. For me, the highlight was tonight, when I took a bath with Jacob. Since we don't have a bathtub (grrr), this is a rare treat for us. And he had SO much fun. He had just gotten a new toy sub from a friend of my mom's (thanks Auntie Annette), and I showed him how to make it bubble while it filled, and "rain" while it emptied. OK, WE had a lot of fun.

I know there's lots more fun in store for us this week. We're thinking about a trip to the zoo, and maybe Chris and I will get out to a movie by ourselves. And let's not forget Christmas at the "South Pole"!

Jen & Jacob =)
