I think it's safe to say that we all had a happy Halloween. Friday evening was great -- that was the adults only costume party that Chris and I went to . We were looking forward to staying late, but ended up leaving at 11 p.m.We'd been up since 5 that morning, so we were tired. Funny thing is, the party didn't get to full swing until about 9 p.m., so I think we'll take a nap before going next year. Gee, I guess we're getting pretty old if we have to start taking naps before we go out at night, eh?
It was wonderful to sleep in on Saturday morning. We rented a couple videos and just snuggled on the couch watching them. Jacob was glad to see us again, but as soon as he did, he hit the floor, scrambled for his toys and ignored us. Business as usual .
Sunday was another busy day. The fun house was that night, and I have to confess, I really enjoyed doing my gypsy fortune teller act. I hadn't done it since I was a camp counselor (too many years ago). It went over pretty well with the kids, too. Chris brought Jacob up to the church and we did a quick walk through of the haunted house. I knew it wasn't going to be too scary, and Jacob's not easily spooked. I was right on target, because he looked around with a little curiosity, but was more entertained by all the people downstairs (doing crafts and waiting to go through the house).
On Tuesday, we were the only ones to show up for story hour, so we left really early. We stopped at the bank, and everyone "oohed" and "ahhed" over him. Jake was really cute in his costume, but he refused to wear his hat. I never did get a picture of him with it, even though I "doctored" it to fit him.
When Chris got home, we went to our four immediate neighbors' houses. Since they all have little kids, they each made special baggies for the little ones. That meant he got lots of snacks he can eat, and not so much candy. He did get a couple lollipops, and ate the one we gave him like a champ. He loved watching the trick-or-treaters come to our door, too. He'd crawl right to the door to see what was going on, and try to follow them out. I can't wait to get our pictures back, though it might be awhile, since I still have half a roll of film left.
It's getting close to the little man's naptime, so I'd better go.
Jen & Jacob =)
