October 25, 2000
Not too much happened last week. We went to the farmer's market on Saturday and picked out a pumpkin, but we won't be carving it until this weekend. If I'm feeling industrious, we might even attempt making a pumpkin pie.
Sunday was interesting, since Chris actually went to church with us. I think it was because free food was involved, though, haha, It was our annual stewardship brunch. He declined my offer to observe my class, and went driving around until time for the service.
My mom and aunt came over that afternoon. Mom hadn't seen Jacob in quite awhile, and we got the chance to really look at Amanda's truck. It's really nice -- for a truck. Jacob loved sitting on my lap behind the wheel, and grabbed ahold like a pro! Mom hadn't really seen Jake walk, and was amazed at how much he's grown.
We made it to story hour this week, and Jacob had the best time. He didn't get all that excited about the stories, but loved playing with the other kids, and had a blast with the plastic jack-o-lantern the reader brought. He kept tossing like it was a ball, which he loves to play with. He even cried when it was time to leave. He's never done that before, but it was getting close to his naptime.
I'm looking forward to this weekend, though it's a busy one. We're going to an adults-only costume party. We're going to be the Three Bears. We're letting a stuffed bear fill in for Jake for the night, since he'll be at Grandma's.We'll even get to stay out as late as we want, and sleep in the next morning. Isn't that what we all used to think being a grown-up was all about? Isn't it funny how we rarely do the things we thought were the best parts of being an adult?
