What a lucky kid! He's 1 year old, and got to have two birthday parties. His first party was on his actual birthday, just a few friends. He got a Baby Mickey walker, which he's been tearing around the house in all week long. His big party was that Saturday, and was a lot of fun, despite a few setbacks. I couldn't set up until the last minute, and by the time everyone arrived, it had started to rain. We were down at the lakefront, which is about 100 yards from our house. Everyone was really great about helping us move everything indoors.
Once we were settled again, we started opening presents. He got lots of clothes, toy trucks, a Fisher Price first trike, and (from us), a ride-on firetruck with lots of sound-effect buttons. He wasn't much help opening his gifts, but had fun playing with the leftover paper. He didn't tear into his cake too much, either, which surprised me. He just dipped a finger into the icing and started spreading it all over the high chair tray. He managed to make a pretty good mess of things in the end. He took a nice LONG nap after everyone left, which gave us time to tidy up.
As if that weren't a busy enough weekend, I went to a meeting Sunday night to meet my prospective Sunday school students and their parents. I'll be teaching the confirmation class this year, which I'm really looking forward to.
Time to put the lil' man to bed now,
Jen & Jacob =)
