Jen B's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
August 31, 2000
Jacob's birthday is exactly a week away! I can hardly believe I was still waddling around this time last year. At least now I can fit into my shoes, haha.
We're going to meet with a photographer about Jake's one year portraits. I'd really like to do something special, and this guy is supposed to be really good. Their studio is on a farm, which I think is really neat. I don't know exactly what I want to do yet, but I have a few ideas.
Now let me say a few words about biting. I love my son and he's usually a very good boy, but this is one habit of his that must be broken immediately. He's been teething like a maniac (he has eight so far), and the last four have really been giving him fits. He will not take a teether of any kind, and I've tried about all of 'em. He prefers to knaw on his binky most of the time, but sometimes he prefers a hunk of Mommy's flesh. I tell him "no" firmly, and move him away from me He just laughs and comes back for another bite -- literally!
I usually end up putting him in the playpen, but I don't want that to become a punishment. I need to be able to put him in there when I have to leave the room. It's very frustrating, to say the least. My mom said he's going through his terrible two's early, but I doubt it. Perhaps when his mouth feels better he'll get over this.
As I'm typing this, the lil' drooly-man is pulling the magazines off the coffee table. I've learned not to put any there until I've read them, because he likes to crumple and tear the pages. I'm hoping this means he'll like to read, since he loves to play with his books too. His favorite is "Feely Bugs."
I should probably have mentioned in my introduction that my toddler-to-be does not walk by himself yet. He cruises around the house, holding onto furniture, which he's been doing since about 9 months. Just when we thought he might let go and start walking by himself, he started to crawl (almost 11 months). Needless to say, my son does things HIS way. He is now standing at our living room window, pounding on it. I guess he wants to go outside.
Well, the little man is going into high gear now, so I'd better go catch up with him.
Take care!
Jen and Jacob =)
