Jen B's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

July 18, 2001

As predicted, it was a very hectic weekend. I spent Saturday running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Poor Jake was just along for the ride. I had to take my mom & aunt to the bus station, as they were going on a five-day cruise. I also had to get the house cleaned, and get everything ready for Sunday.

Chris decided to ride up to Sellersville with his mom (and Jake), so he would be sure to be there on time. I was up an an unGodly hour, so I could help set up for Bible school. As planned, I stayed for half the day, then ran up to Sellersville to try and be there for Kailey's baptism. Jake was so happy to see me, and I was so proud of him for behaving during the regular church service. Unfortunately, he was a real pill during the baptism itself, and I had a real hard time keeping him in the pew.

Afterward, we went to Doug, Carolyn, and Kailey's house to celebrate. Jake and Kailey had so much fun playing together. They were wrestling and chasing each other all over the place. That was the first time they really have interacted with each other, so it was fun for us to see, too.

Monday and yesterday were spent running errands and taking care of mom's house & dogs. Jake loves to play with them, so it's hard to get him to leave when it's time. I finally found a way to get him to take nap there, though. I had to put him on my aunt's bed and close the door on him. My mom's bed is too high of the ground, and there's too much stuff in her room for him to get into, so he won't sleep in there.

I also had my ultrasound yesterday, and was desperately hoping to find out whether Jake would have a little brother or sister. It would be nice to be able to name the baby, and tell Jake who is in mommy's tummy, etc. No such luck. It's good to know the baby is healthy, and Jake seemed interested to see the baby on the screen. Still, I'm a bit disappointed. I'll get over it, though.
A few new developments with Jake before I sign off: He's really started fighting me about changing diapers. I keep telling him that if he learns to use the potty, he won't need diapers anymore. I'm hoping that will begin to sink in soon. Also, he's been picking up random letters and numbers from watching Sesame Street. He now knows S, B, O, and A. He knows number 16, and six. He says 1, 2, and 3, but that's usually counting back to me when he's getting in trouble. Little smart alec.

That's all for this week!
