The past couple of weeks have gone by in a blur. Jake did get that haircut, but he refused to sit on the booster seat, or even wear a cape. The barber tried putting it around me, but the lil' guy squirmed so much, he pulled it off me. So I was covered in hair, as was Jake. He cried almost the whole time, and kept trying to wipe his eyes, but his hands had hair on them. It was kinda' pathetic.
The barber was great, though. He was extremely patient, and did an excellent job. I still haven't gotten around to taking a picture, but I have to say he loks so grown up.
Jake has become the ultimate copycat, and seems to pick up new words and phrases all the time. I caught him telling the dog to shut up the other day. Now I'm very careful not to say that to Jake (I tell him to hush or be quiet), but apparently I tell the dog that a lot. He also says "shoes" when he wants to go outside. He knows he isn't allowed outside without them, and he loves to be outside.
He was helping me work on the garden this weekend, and I did get a cute picture of that. Too bad I didn't have the energy to get more done. My plants still aren't in the ground, 'cause I'm still digging out a space for them. I'd love to get a kiddie pool for Jake to play in, but we only just got our spigot fixed. We'll be out of town this weekend, so it will have to wait until we get back.
Speaking of this weekend, this is the weekend of Dh's birthday, when we're supposed to go to Pittsburgh. I've done a good job of trying to psych myself up for it, despite some setbacks. BIL, SIL, and MIL are waiting until Monday to drive up, leaving Chris, Jake, and I there by ourselves on Sunday. We've decided we'll go to the zoo if we have time, which should be fun. It also means we'll be stuck waiting around at the hotel until they arrive on Monday. There's no point in going to the park if Chris has no one to ride with. I just hope they're not late (which they always are).
This seems to be the week for doctors, too. I had my belly check today (no u/s date yet), the dog goes to the vet so we can board her over the weekend, and Jake and I will be interviewing a pediatrician. One of the girls Chris works with gave me the guy's name, but I want to meet him for myself before I make a decision. I'm hoping he'll be more friendly than Jake's current ped. Don't get me wrong, she's an excellent doctor, but kind of distant. She's also an hour away now, and if Jake gets sick, that's not good. Hopefully, this guy will work out well.
I've started writing a pregnancy diary (finally) in an effort to keep this diary more focused on Jake. After all, it is a toddler diary.
Jake's attmpting another headstand, so I guess I'd better go after him . . .
Jen & Jacob =)
