Happy Mother's Day to all! I hope your is better than mind has been. At least yesterday was fun. Jake and I did the Great Strides walk for Cystic Fibrosis yesterday morning. We got there pretty early, because I was supposed to meet up with a girl from our church who was walking with me. We waited awhile for her, then decided to start walking. My sister (who has CF) and her fiance were already there, and on their last lap. They walked with us--well, with me, since Jake got clingy and insisted I carry him as soon as he saw them. Jim was offered to carry him for me, but Jake wanted no part of him. So when we finished the lap, I stuck Jake in the stroller, and walked back out to the registration area with Jim & Cyndi and said goodbye to them while we waited for the other girl for awhile. She never showed, so we finished the walk and headed over to my Mom's.
Mom was working in her flower bed, and my aunt was helping a guy remove some trees from the yard. That meant there was a lot of dirt for Jake to play in, which he throroughly enjoyed. I wish I had the camera with me when he was "digging" with Mom's garden spade, it was too cute!
Today was blah. I asked Chris to come to church with me as my Mom's Day present, and he gave me a real hard time about getting up. By the time he did, I was stuck getting Jake fed and dressed and loading the car by myself. Then we get to my class, and only ONE of my students showed up!!! The class was supposed to be about marriage (the main reason I wanted Chris to come), but we ended up working on something else. I was SO upset. Forget that I got up early on Mom's Day and drove an hour to get there, I made sure ALL the parents knew we were having class that day. Chris felt so sorry for me, he agreed to come back another week.
We went home after church and took naps, but I couldn't sleep. I finally dozed off a bit, but woke up to see we had 15 minutes to get up and get ready to leave to see our moms. Chris woke up, looked at his clock, and it was dead. So in addition to rushing around to get ready, we had to call the power company.
I met my mom for a movie, while Chris and Jake went to MIL's. We were going to have a dinner for her at our place on her birthday (May 10), but she cancelled on us at the last minute, saying there was no need to have her over if we were coming by on Sunday anyway. The thing is, we WEREN'T planning to! That's okay, I enjoyed the time alone with my mom, even if the movie (Memento) was weird.
I got a card from Chris and one from Jake, but Chris took me seriously when I said if he came to church I'd count it as a gift. Men.
Tomorrow is my birthday, so I'm hoping it will make up for today. Or was I expecting too much??
Jen & Jacob =)
