April 18, 2001
It's been yet another busy week for us. Last Saturday, Jake helped me in the kitchen all morning. I was making a few things to bring to Easter dinner, and I let him pour ingredients in the bowls and stir. He discovered marshmallows and Jello beans. He loves both.
When Chris came home, we worked on clearing out the basement. We got all but a few small items packed, plus the old furniture that needs dumping. I was careful not to lift a lot of stuff, but the dust and mold set my allergies off big time. I couldn't sleep, I felt so bad.
Easter was fun. Jake loved his Sesame Street video and fruit snacks, but didn't care about the rest of his loot. Kinda' funny, since he's really into books right now. Anyhow, we made it to the church real early so we could get settled before the crowd hit. I let Jake roam the aisles for awhile, but when he found the Easter Basket hidden behind the altar (for the children's sermon), I had to rein him in. He was the squirmiest and crankiest he's ever been, so I was all too glad to send him to the nursery.
Then we picked up Chris and headed for MIL's. My mom and aunt were there, too. We had a nice dinner, and Jake loved being the center of attention. He wasn't interested in hunting for Easter eggs, though. Could be because MIL hid them too high up.
We kept close to home on Monday, trying to rest up from the weekend. We made up for it yesterday, though. I had my 2nd OB appointment, which went pretty well. We heard the heartbeat (155 bpm), and I've only gained 2 lbs. Dr. Matthieu copied all my records for me to take to Dr. Smith. She had to wait for the fax of my ultrasound report, which came in just as I was leaving.
Then we went to pick up Jake's portraits and try to find a bee stencil for his new bedroom. I actually found what I was looking for, which surprised me. We stopped at the consignment shop to get rid of some clothes we didn't want to keep and the baby swing. It's the wind-up kind, which turned out to be more of a pain than a help.
Then we headed home. Jake was asleep by then, so it left me time to get all the portraits separated and ready to send out with change-of-address cards. I also looked through my papers from Dr. Matthieu. I noticed that on my ultrasound report that they found a "hemorrahgic cyst" on my right ovary. I was a bit concerned, since this wasn't mentioned at the u/s. I tried looking it up in my pregnancy books, but could not find anything. So I called the doctor. Turns out, they're very commom and nothing to worry about. She said about the only thing they'll do for it is another ultrasound at about 20 wks. Yippee! Now if only I don't get the same tech as I had with Jake . . .
Oh, and I also noticed that the u/s report had me pegged a week further along than what they told me the day it was done. So I'm already in my second trimester--hooray!
Now I've got to go clean house before we leave for Cape Cod tomorrow. I'm really excited about this trip, even if it's supposed to be cold and rainy all weekend. Chris found out the NFL draft was going to be held while we're there, and I told him if he wanted to watch it all, then I'd bring scrapbooking stuff and my flannel nightgowns. He changed his tune pretty quick, hehe!
One more thing I just have to share: Last night Chris and I were asking Jake where different body parts are. He knows ears, mouth, tongue, nose, eyes, and feet. Chris thought he'd be funny and asked Jake where his penis is. Sure enough, Jake grabbed himself and said, "Psss!" He's ALL BOY!
That's it for this week,
Jen, Jacob, & Baby =)
