Jen B's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

April 2, 2001

As I type this, I'm watching Jake scoot between his dinosaur playset, and his alphabet books. He's so funny. The dinosaurs he got for Easter, which turned out to be a really nice day. We dyed eggs earlier in the week, which he really enjoyed, and did a little egg hunt on Friday. I don't know which he enjoyed more, opening the plastic eggs to see what candy/stickers were inside, or finding them. I also dressed the kids in their Easter clothes, and took their pictures with a huge stuffed bunny my grandmother sent them.

He helped me make devilled eggs on Saturday, out of the ones we dyed earlier in the week. Sunday we did the church thing. Jake went to the Easter fair held by the church nursery right after the children's sermon (he was getting out of hand). But not before he managed to fill the pew with dinosaurs, trees, and rocks. Allie loved the music and commotion, and flirted with everyone around us.

I had hoped the kids would nod off on the way to Grandma's, but only Allie caught any Z's. So Jake started melting down by the time dinner was served. It didn't help that he had all that candy and snack food. The Easter Bunny kept the candy to a minimum, and got him the "Dinosaurs to Go" backpack, a new Blues Clues cup, Blues Clues underpants, a Bob the Builder book, and some lollipops. He wanted Allie's basket, too. She got Disney Princess plates and bowls, a book, and a little plastic picnic basket.

By 5:30, Jake had decided he was ready to go home. He got all his things together, then dragged Allie's carseat over to me and said, "Put Allie seat, go bye-bye". It was so cute and pathetic, we had to honor his request.

Today we're going up to see his cousin Kailey for a playdate. I haven't told him yet, since he'd want to leave as soon as I told him. I just pray he naps on the way up there, or we'll have a repeat of Sunday. This is one kid who really needs his naps.
