Jen B's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
March 16, 2001
I had my first ultrasound yesterday. I don't remember my first u/s with Jake being so painful, though. I had to drink a ton of water then, too, and I remember really having to pee. But this time, I had was only halfway to the hospital, and was seriously afraid I'd either wet my pants or my bladder would burst before they even processed my paperwork.
It didn't help that they wanted me for bloodwork too. I went to the radiology dept. first to see if they were ready for me, but they said it would be awhile. I told them I wouldn't be able to "hold it" much longer, so they told me I could let out a little bit. Yeah, right. Well, the lab needed a urine sample anyway, so I went there and told them my situation, so they gave me the sample cup and let me go. I felt better, but not by much. The vampires were'nt ready for me yet, so I was sent back out to the waiting room.
No sooner did I sit down, than they called me back to the lab. They took their fill (4 vials) and told me to go straight to radiology. Apparently, they came looking for me as soon as I walked into the lab. Thankfully, I was able to go right on in and get started. We were going to try and take a video of the ultrasound, but Chris had his hands full with Jake. He seemed to think they were hurting me.
Anyway, we got to see the lil bean. We saw his/her heart thumping, and heard it, too. They said I was 7 wks along, as Dr. Matthieu predicted. My official due date is now 10/28/01. Before you start joking about a Halloween baby, keep in mind that Jake was 2-1/2 weeks early.
Afterwards, we all went shopping for our neice's birthday, and decided to get haircuts while we were out. Poor Jake was even less tolerant of this than being at the hospital. Poor guy has been traumatized for life, and the baby's not even here yet. He's a tough lil' guy, though, and will probably make a fine big brother.
Have a great St. Pattie's Day (a bit early)!
Jen, Jacob, and Baby Bean =)
