Jen B's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 30, 2001

As you might have guessed, just after I got over being sick, Chris came home with the same bug Jake and I had. So instead of a nice long weekend of ttc, I played nursemaid.

I think the highlight of the weekend was when Jacob got his potty seat. He was so excited about it, and got very impatient with me when I looked it over to make sure all the parts fit together properly. Now when he follows me into the bathroom, he will lift the lid on his potty, sit on it, and (when he sees I'm done) then stand and close the lid. Most of the time he gets it right, but sometimes he sits with his feet in the potty. He even sat on it before he got in the tubby the other night. He is so proud of himself! I'm proud too, of course.

I don't have plans to train him any time soon. But since he's gotten to be such a mimic, I thought it would be a good way to introduce the idea.

Jake threw his first public temper tantrum in church on Sunday. He decided he didn't want to stay in the pew after communion, and started screaming. Since everyone was singing when he started, I just held him and let him scream. A few parishoners were surprised he had it in him (he's always been so good before), but most just smiled that "been-there-glad-it's-not-me-this-time" smile". I just hope he doesn't decide to do this every week. I know it's a normal stage for toddlers to go through, but that doesn't make it any easier. I knew his being such a good infant would catch up with me . . .

Jen & Jacob =)
