Jen's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 24, 2000

Well a big step has been made. Jason is now in his very own bed instead of the crib. I think he really likes it. The first night we put him down, he stayed there and wasn't even totally asleep. That was a first! We made a pretty big deal about it being his very own bed, and how he would get to have his own pillow (a big point for him when he crawls in with us, LOL). We also brought in a special teddy bear that he loves, and he seems to be reassured by it. Last night, he woke up about two hours after we had put him down, but when I lay down with him, he went right back to sleep. When I got up, I put the teddy bear next to him, he rolled on his back, gave it a big hug, and then rolled back on his side, snuggling with it and sound asleep. It was such a sweet moment.

Anyway, I wanted to give him as much time as possible before the baby arrives and takes over the crib, so that he didn't feel like he was being displaced. This way it's something fun, and hopefully it won't become a point of jealousy. Not too much longer before his little sister is here -- only 5.5 weeks until my due date!

We had a really sweet moment this morning: Jason woke up in a cute mood this morning. I asked him (and all his responses are still with his eyes closed and laying down), "Are you awake?" and he said "Yeah." "Did you have a good sleep?" "Yeah." "Do you want to put clothes on?" "Yeah." "Are you a silly boy?" and he gives me his big goofy grin, still with his eyes closed. It's these little moments that are the gems.
