Jen's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 18, 1999

So my little man has figured out that if you turn things, other objects open. I'm proud of him, but rather nervous. This means that once he gets the idea of a good grip, that doors are no longer a barrier -- eek! He is especially fond of a jar of Aveeno moisturizing cream (wonderful stuff!) and will get very upset if I don't start to open it for him. Once I do that, he'll pop the lid on and off. For a while, it was just the joy of playing with the lid, and then he discovered that he could stick his finger in the stuff and poke holes in it. Oh, boy.

He's also shifted his sleeping pattern, so that he's awake and ready to go at 6 a.m. I hope this is temporary; I liked being able to sleep in until 6:30 a.m. or a little later, and then get up, get ready, and then wake Jason up to get him ready. It's a lot harder to do all that when he wants to play.

I wish that he had a more regular sleep pattern. I am never able to predict exactly how long he'll sleep (he's only slept through the night a handful of times), and he does seem to sleep less than all the books say he should, but he's healthy and happy, so I guess that's just how he is. One thing we are doing is trying to get back into his routine; it got disrupted after our trip in August, and we never really got back on track. Hopefully, that will help somewhat.
