Jen's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 22, 1999

I had a wonderful time with my son last weekend. It was just one of those times where it all goes right and the good feelings stay with you for a while. On Friday, he woke up pretty early, around 6 a.m., but I just brought him in bed with me, let him play with his toys, and entertain himself. Around 7 a.m. he fell back asleep. I dozed a bit longer, then got up, made some breakfast for me, and a little extra for him, and my little monkey man slept until 9:30! Way late for him. After he ate, we walked down to the store and ran some errands, then went over to a friend's house and he got to play with her two boys who are a month younger. They had so much fun running around the backyard, picking dandelions and just being babies.

Saturday was pretty much just household stuff, but it was still nice just being with my family.

Sunday we went to another friend's house and Jason got to play with their 2-year-old. I couldn't believe how well they played together. What blew me away was that they really were playing together, not just beside one another. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen developmentally until they were about 3 years old or so. But, there they were, handing toys back and forth, talking and babbling to one another, ducking behind the curtains and playing peek-a-boo. It was so cute.

The hard thing was that after that weekend, it was really hard to go back to work. I just wanted to stay and have fun with my baby. I do think that I'm doing the right thing, but I'd be lying if I said I never had second thoughts.
