Jen's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
September 5, 2000
We have introduced Jason to the concept of the horsy-back ride, and he's hooked! I was playing with him last weekend, and at one point he climbed on my back so I got up and was walking around on all fours. He had a blast! I got some great pictures of when Steve was giving him rides; some where he was just draped over his back like a wee gorilla baby. It's such a special feeling to be able to do something this simple that makes Jason so happy-I'm glad I have the opportunity.
He's been getting to sleep better and better and in the past two weeks, we've stuck to our routine better than we ever have. I'm sure that's made a difference. The ritual we have now is that we get him in his sleeper, brush his teeth (which he'll finally let us do without a fuss), read him a few books, lights out and then sing some songs. If he's very tired, he'll usually fall asleep before we're done singing, but if not, he's usually pretty quiet, and gradually fades out in 10 minutes or so.
It pleases me a great deal that he enjoys stories so much. He's getting to the point where he'll ask for a particular book by title, though in Jason speak, "Each Peach Pear Plum" becomes "Eee Peach Pa Pluuuum," and "Goodnight Moon" becomes "Ni Moo."
He's also been rather polite lately, often saying "please" and/or "thank you" without any prompting from Steve or me. I don't know how long that will last, LOL, but I'll appreciate it while I've got it!
