Jen's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 17, 1999

Wow, it's been one year today since I returned to work from maternity leave. How fast it's gone by! One year ago, I had my baby beside me, sleeping in his bassinet. I was nursing him when he woke, and then holding him in his sling as I typed away at the keyboard. He's a little more active now! ;)

My husband Steve and I are busily preparing to take a major road trip starting on the 19th. We're heading out to Denver and Colorado Springs, CO. to meet up with some of the moms I've been in contact with since I was just a few months pregnant and joined the June '98 email list. That list has been such a tremendous wealth of support and information. I've really learned a lot from all of them.

As far at the trip goes though, I'm starting to get nervous. It's 1200 miles each way, and about 20 hours in the car. On the way back, we'll take our time, and only drive a few hours a day; but we could only take so much time off of work, so we only have two days to get there. Normally Jason's great in the car, but he's teething again, and has been pretty fussy and very much a "Klingon." Well, I'll just be sure to pack the Tylenol and Ambesol.

Well, I think I'm about as prepared for the adventure as I'm going to be. I've got a bag of new toys and books for him, as well as some of his older favorites. I'm bringing the blanket we have in his crib, so that should be familiar to him at night, and we'll try and keep his nap and bedtime routine the same as much as is possible. LOL, if this goes well, can I go ahead and buy my plane ticket to Europe next summer and not get dirty looks from the other passengers? Wish me luck!
