Jen's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 10, 1999

Well, my little guy is starting to become a toddler in truth. He's been taking steps now for about a month, but I can see that he's really starting to make the shift to walking as his primary mode of locomotion. He's getting less wobbly, and more willing to get back up if (when) he falls. Wow, where did my baby go?

He's changing so quickly -- more teeth are finally starting to sprout through. He got his first two between six and seven months and then there was a gap of about five and a half months where there was nothing new showing, but he was obviously uncomfortable with teething. Now he's making up for lost time, a 5th tooth popped up a week ago, and it seems he's working on another.

It's funny the preconceptions you have before you have your own baby. I thought for sure that the worst of teething would be done by now, but then I also thought that babies slept through the night at around two months. Don't ask me why I thought this. I don't know. You know, in the past 18 months, I've had a grand total of one, count that, one night of uninterrupted sleep. Ah, well, he's only little for such a short amount of time -- even if it seems to crawl by at 2:00 a.m..
