Jason is a tickle monster. He loves being tickled, and lately he's been trying to get us back. I love it! He makes this funny sound when he does it-I think he's trying to imitate the fast "tickle-tickle-tickle" noise we do when we get him, but it sounds an awful lot like "coochie-coochie-coochie."

I've been thinking that maybe it's time to get a potty for him. I don't think he's ready to start using it, but I'd like to get him used to it being around. I wonder when he will be ready -- I'm not in any rush, but he's not showing any signs of being interested at all, with the possible exception of loving to flush the toilet. Maybe I'll wait until we move, though.

We're seriously looking into buying a mobile home. Housing here is just so outrageous (avg. home price is $400k) that it's the only way we'll ever get our foot in the real estate door. The good news is that since housing is at such a premium, the mobile homes don't tend to depreciate, even in harder times, as long as you take care of them. The catalyst is that we found out that our rent is pretty much going to double once the house is rebuilt. It's not an unfair price given building costs, but it would make my dream of quitting my full-time position very difficult.

On that front, I kind of blew it with my daycare provider. I was talking about the mobile home possibility, and how it would still allow me to quit and she said "You're going to quit?!?!?" Oops. What a crappy way to break it to her. I feel really bad about it, she's a good friend, she adores Jason, and I know she was looking forward to taking care of the new baby. Sigh, well, I apologized later, and everything is fine, but I wish I'd handled it better.
