Hi Everyone,
Well I've been home for the past two days with the kids, and it has been so nice. The boys started school yesterday, and the little ones were so excited. Thomas wasn't so excited, first of all, he's repeating the 8th grade, and he had to be at the school bus stop by 6:50 A.M. That made for a very sad 15 year old. Thankfully he was better by the end of the day. He likes his new school, they offer plenty of extracurricular activities that he is interested in, they even provide transportation home after, so it looks like he will enjoy his 8th grade year, the second time around. The curriculum seems alot better for him, he won't be pushed through a subject without understanding it, so hopefully this year will be much more successful for him.
Andrew started first grade, and he really liked it. I took him to the bus stop in the morning, and he was on cloud nine getting on that school bus, he absolutely loved it. I found out that once a week they will be bussing the 1st through 6th graders to the local high school for swimming lessons, and I am very excited about it, so is he. He really really loves to swim, so this is going to be great for him. The only thing that bothered me about Andrew's first day was how late his bus was. He was supposed to get dropped off at 4:00, and the bus didn't drop him off until 4:40. I was getting eaten alive by bugs waiting for him, and the poor kid had a long day, he was gone from 8:00-4:40. But he didn't seem to mind.
Joshua, my baby boy started Kindergarten yesterday. It was just an orientation, with a parent, so I took him after we sent Andrew on the bus. We met his teacher and the kids in his class, then we met the afternoon bus driver(he's only going half days) and took a ride on the bus so the kids could get familiar with the route. Thankfully, Josh is the first stop, so he won't be on too long. Today I had to put him on the bus with his brother, he was soooooooooo excited, but it was hard for me. He's my baby boy, when did he get old enough to board a school bus and be an independant person. I don't think I like this whole growing up thing. Joshua's bus is scheduled to drop him off at 11:54 A.M., the bus driver told us yesterday that if somebody isn't there to meet the kids, they take them back to school. If it happens three times, they contact Social Services and file a report for neglect. My husbands cousin will be picking him up, so I laid into him about how important for him to be on time, no matter how long he has to wait. Hopefully he understands how serious that is. Joshua would be heart broken if somebody wasn't there to pick him up and he had to go back to school. I will not tolerate that happening to him even once. I just hope my little man enjoys school, he's been so excited about kindergarten since his 5th birthday in May.
Now on to Kayla. She has been such a little stinker the past couple days. She is definately as hard headed as her Mommy. If Kayla doesn't want to do something, it's almost impossible to get her to do it. That can make for a miserable little girl sometimes. She is really starting to like the word no. No matter what I ask her, or tell her to do, the answer is always no. I am working on it with her, but htere's only so much reasoning I can do with a 2 year old. Hopefully the structure of Day care will help her through this tough stage, because it's giving me gray hair.
One good thing about Kayla is that she LOVES to share everything she has with everyone around her. The problem is, she won't take no for an answer, you don't know how many soggy pretzels I have gotten in the past couple days. We also discovered that we can't keep juice boxes in her reach, otherwise half will be open, and the other half will be missing straws. I must have 10 open juice boxes in my fridge right now. Of course, she doesn't want any of them because they are already open...UGH!!!!! What am I going to do with this little girl.
Well, I have to get ready to pick Josh up from the bus stop. I will write soon.
Janis and Kayla
