Hi Everyone!
Josh is now 18 months old! A year and a half and growing up more and more every day!
Josh had is 18 month check up and I was really happy that at this check up he wasn't going to have any shots. Well, I was wrong. After speaking to his doctor we agreed that Josh was a good candidate for a flu shot. He was out of commission last February for almost a month with the flu and I didn't want to go through that again. One of the draw backs of having your child in day care is that he gets every sickness that is going around, so hohopefully we won't see the flu this year!
Josh is just starting to go through a form of separation anxiety. He is a little more selective about who he will go to now and seems to want me to hold him more. That part I expected, but he has also started crying when we put him down to sleep at night. Although Josh has never been a big napper, he has slept through the night pretty consistently since he was 6 months old. We have a night time ritual. He eats dinner, plays a little, he takes a bath and we read a few stories then it is off to bed. He used to just lay down and go to sleep, but now he stands in his crib and cries for about 15 minutes. I have tried everything from rocking him to singing. I have even tried keeping him up a little later than usual so he will be good an tired before I put him in bed, but nothing worked. Yesterday, his teacher (child care provider) suggested a night light. I tried it last night and he went right down. It is too soon to say if that worked or if it was just a coincidence, but I'll take what I can get.
We took Josh to see Santa last weekend and he was too scared to sit on Santa's lap. Santa let me sit in his chair with Josh and he leaned in and we got a picture with all three of us. It is pretty funny, but it will always remind us of how Josh felt about strangers at this age.
I had the week off of work last week and I spent the entire day on Monday in Josh's class. We had such a good time, but Josh was jealous of attention I gave to the other children. There are 11 other children in his class all about the same age. We sang songs read stories and played games. I had such a good time I am ready to apply for a job there! Josh actually tried to bite a child that I was holding while I was there. Just when I thought the biting phase was over! Oh well, the doctor and his teachers tell me he will grow out of it.
I have some really cute pictures I would like to post, but I have sent in 4 pictures already and none of them have posted yet, so I am not going to send anymore in until they do.
As for me, I am in the 2 week waiting period now. I am hoping that I can announce a preganncy at Christmas time, but we will have to wait and see!
Thanks for reading,
Janet and Josh
