Janet's Diary Entries

Hi Everyone!

I have been so busy these last couple of weeks, I have almost forgotten about Halloween! It just hit me this morning that Halloween is on Friday, only 2 days away! Josh is all set with his costume, but that is a funny story in itself.

About a month ago Josh and I ventured out to find him a Halloween costume. This year I decided he was old enough to pick out a costume of his choice (within reason). I looked at a couple places in advance and found that Old Navy had a good selection of cute costumes at a reasonable price, so that is where I took Josh. We looked at all the costumes and Josh chose the Fireman costume. I was happy with his choice because we love the Firemen in our neighborhood. They always take the time to talk to Josh when they see him and will give him a "Junior Firefighter" badge for him to wear on his shirt. Although Josh is very shy when they are around, he talks about them and the fire truck long after they are gone.

Anyway, we bought the fireman costume and went home. The next day at daycare, Josh proudly told the techer and other kids that he had picked out his costume. When I came to pick him up later that afternoon, the teacher commented on how excited he was about his costume. She said he has told all the kids he is going to be a bumble bee for halloween and is now buzzing around the yard pretending to fly like a bee! I thought, bumble bee??? He is going to be a fireman! Sure enough I went out to the yard and when he stopped buzzing I asked him what he was going to be for Halloween. "A Bee!" was his strong reply. Because this was weeks before Halloween I decided to wait it out before returning his original choice, and I am glad I did. He is now very excited about his Fireman costume and I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will be equally excited about it in two days!

Tonight we will carve Josh's pumpkin. I am anticipating a big mess, but this year Josh should be able to help scoop all the goop out of the pumpkin, so I am looking forward to it!

The last few days have been tough for Josh because he hasn't been able to go outside at all. We have had some major local fires that have been buring since Saturday. I am thankful that our home is not in danger, but the smoke is pretty heavy around our home and work, so we have been playing in doors with the air purifier running constantly! My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones or homes in these fires and it makes me sick to think they were started by arson. I sure hope they catch the people that did this and punish them to the full extent of the law!

As for the day care search, that is the reason I have been so busy! I try to visit at least one center per day and sometimes two. It is hard to do that because most are only opened during my working hours and lunch time is not a good time to visit because the children are either eating or napping. I have tried to shift my lunch schedule to either earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon so I can get out for at least one visit. I have contacted 28 schools and visited 12. Many of the quality centers are full until June-September and many of them do not offer full time care. This has been a lot more emotional for me than I anticipated. It is hard to see the children and teachers who we have bonded with over the years, scatter to different centers all over the area. It also makes me fearful that I am waiting too long to make a decision and the good centers will fill up. I have seen some centers that I like, but nothing compares to what I have now and that makes it hard. I have five more centers to see and then John will be looking at the few I liked. It looks like Josh will not be attending a school with any of his current classmates. That has been the hardest part of this for me. When we first heard the news, I thought several of his classmates would go to a nearby school and Josh would go too. I thought that these parents would have similar standards to mine, because we picked the same school in the past. I was wrong about that. The kids scattered in all directions and most of them have been placed in centers that do not meet my standards. It breaks my heart to think about Josh having to start over with no one familiar, but they say kids acclimate fast and I am going to do my best to make sure he is in a quality center with nurturing teachers.

On the TTC front, today is cycle day 5. Obviously, that means I am not PG. AF showed up on Saturday, which was no surprise because I was crampy all day Friday. So, I am on to a new cycle with no clomid. I took three rounds of clomid with no luck. I believe I am ovulating so I am going to see my OB on Tuesday and request some additional tests.

That's all for this week! Thanks for reading!
