Hi Everyone,
Well, I finally did it! I am sending 2 pictures in today for posting. Hopefully, there will now be a picture of Josh on the diaries mainpage and with this entry there should be a picture of Josh reading the Sunday paper. It's a wonder my house is ever clean with this guy running around. He is so curious and gets into everything that is not locked up!
I must say that although Josh can sure make a mess, he does help clean up if you ask him to. This weekend he was up at my parent's house and he pulled all the tissues out of the tissue box. When I saw the mess I told him that he needed to throw the tissues in the trash. I pulled the trash can out from under the sink and watched as he picked up each tissue and threw it away. I was so proud. He does the same thing with toys when I ask him to put them in his toy box. Toys are a little harder though, because he gets distracted about half way through and starts playing with the toys! Oh well, at least he makes the effort.
Josh has started saying some new words. He started saying "horse" "apple" "milk" and "Elmo", which is his favorite Sesame Street character. That word is especially cute to hear him say. He also said his first Spanish word. He says "Agua" now! My husband and his family are all bilingual so we really wanted Josh to learn Spanish. I took 2 Spanish classes before Josh was born so I could at least understand the words he learns. They have also been speaking to Josh in Spanish and English at his daycare per my request. I have heard that it is much easier for kids to learn another language when they are young, and I want Josh to have the advantage of being bilingual.
Josh has had a change in his normal appetite lately. He used to have a really healthy appetite and would eat just about anything. He would shovel in the veggies, eggs, fruit and chicken. He would even eat fish. I could give him almost anything that we were having for dinner and he would eat it. Things have really changed these past few weeks. He has stopped eating veggies altogether. If I make a scrambled egg he will take a few bites, but won't finish it. He will still eat chicken and fruit, but not with the vigor that he used to. He does, however, drink a lot more milk than before. He has always been a good drinker, but now I have to refill his milk cup once or twice during dinner. This may be because his mouth is hurting. He is getting all 4 eye teeth (top and bottom) and is drooling up a storm. I guess that could explain why he has been drinking more and eating less. Another thing to discuss with his pediatrician when we see him.
I have started making a list of questions for Josh's pediatrician to ask him when I take Josh in for his periodic visits. I always think of questions that aren't urgent, but that I would like to ask or discuss with him. When the time comes, however, I usually draw a blank or can only remember one or two things.
Some things I am wondering about now are:
Flouride supplements. I was speaking to a friend of mine, who happens to be a dentist, and she said that Josh should be taking flouride supplements at his age.
Peanuts and other nuts. We haven't intruduced Josh to products with nuts in them yet and I was wondering when is the right age to do that? Is he old enough now?
Just a quick up date on my condition. I saw my doctor last week. He perscribed a drug called cytotec, which is supposed to contract the uterus to expel any remaining blood or tissue (sorry if that grosses you out). I started taking it on Saturday and it really wiped me out. It made me so tired that I slept 11 hours Saturday night! I am still bleeding, but it finally appears to be slowing down (thank God!). I got a call from my doctor yesterday requesting that I come in for another HCG test (that will make 6 total!). He said the results of my last test indicate that I still have elevated hormones. I am anxious to put this experience behind me and move forward. I had no idea how long the process is for a miscarriage, but at least it doesn't look like I will have to have a D&C.
Other than that things are going well. John is back in town, which is nice we really miss him when he travels.
That's it for this week.
Thanks for reading!
Janet
