Hi Everyone!
Well, we had quite a fun Independence Day! We had a neighborhood party. Each family from the neighborhood brought an assigned dish or drink and the hosts provided the main dish. We all pitched in for a bouncy house and the kids had a blast!
Our neighbors have a play area in the garage for their daughter and had it available for the kids to play. The play area consists of a play oven and sink stocked with pots pans and pretend food. There is also a huge doll house filled with furniture and dolls. Now, you would think that my son would be more interested in the bouncy house, but he was quite content playing by himself with the kitchen toys and doll house while all the other kids bounced! He also enjoyed the blow up pool. He got in and splashed around with his swim suit on, then later after I dried him off and put clean dry clothes on him he jumped in the pool shoes and all!
The party was a hit, but we didn't make it for the fireworks. They set them off here at about 9:00 pm and by the time the firework show is over and we make it back home it is about 11:00 pm and that is just too late for Josh. He really needs to keep to a pretty regular sleeping schedule or he is cranky for days. Maybe we will try to keep him up for them next year.
Saturday and Sunday were also lots of fun because my nephew, Josh's cousin Sean stayed with us. Sean is 11 years old and just loves Josh. He was here visiting 2 years ago when Josh was born so he feels a special bond. Josh loves spending time with his cousin and they run around and play together so well! Sean will be here for a couple more weeks, so we are hoping to have him over next weekend as well.
We have had consistent problems, since Josh was born trying to get him to nap. It has always been a battle, but he naps regularly at day care, so I know he is tired. I have tried to duplicate the daycare atmosphere at home. I have done everything short of having 11 other 2 year olds napping in my house. Nothing works. About 2 months ago we started putting Josh down to nap on the couch in the living room and that seemed to work. We thought maybe just having us near him helped him sleep comfortably. Well, that didn't last and for the last month the nap battle is back in full force! We have decided that we can't force him to sleep, but we can have an hour of quiet time each afternoon at about the same time. He does not have to sleep, but if he chooses not to sleep he has to look at books or play quietly with his stuffed animals. This was a battle for the first few days, but has worked for the last 3 days in a row! The first 2 days we tried this approach he just played quietly and did not nap. On Friday, he slept for 30 minutes, Saturday he slept for 1 hour and 10 minutes and Sunday he slept for 1 hour and 20 minutes! He has never slept this well for us! I am so happy about it, but not getting my hopes up yet that this will last. We'll have to wait and see.
Yesterday, Josh sang the alphabet song to me all the way through and included every letter except for "K". I couldn't believe that he knew it so well! He is counting better too. He still has a hard time with "4" but he is definitely making progress. He is very verbal and talks all the time. His teachers at day care tell me that his verbal skills are advanced for his age and I think it may have to do with his love for books. I am just beginning to see him pick up books we have read and pretend to read them himself copying the words I used. It is really amazing because often times the words are right and it appears that he is reading the book himself.
As for me AF showed up late Thursday night. I wasn't really surprised because I was getting AF symtoms a day or so before, but I was excited about taking clomid this cycle. After AF showed up I counted days for this cycle and as it turns out, DH will be out of town from day 11 to day 15. I normally ovulate anywhere from day 11 to day 16, so I am almost certain we will miss it this month. With that in mind I opted not to begin the clomid this cycle. I am fine now, but Thursday night and Friday morning I was really depressed about it. If I am not PG this cycle (and I don't know how it would be possible), that will take us to cycle 10 of TTC. It took us until cycle 11 with Josh and I so hoped it would be quicker this time around.
I feel silly getting upset about this considering all that some women have to go through to get PG. I am so thankful that I have Josh, but would sure like to get things moving along for the next addition to our family.
That's all for this week! Thanks for reading!
Janet and Josh
