Janet's Diary Entries

June 4, 2003

Hi Everyone!

I am sorry I haven't written for a couple of weeks, but life has been hectic! Work has been busier than it has been for the last 7 years! On top of that I have been busy preparing for Josh's birthday party and entertaining out of town house guests! Whew, we survived!

John's Parents arrived on Wendesday (May 28th). John picked them up from the airport and they went straight to Josh's daycare. They were so excited to see him! They live in Florida, so unfortunately they don't get to see him as often as they would like. Josh was very happy and went right to them, even though he has not seen them since last year.

Thursday (May 29th) was Josh's Birthday! That evening we all met up with my Parents for dinner at a local restaurant. Josh had heard the words "Happy Birthday to You" so many times that day that on our way out he was stopping at all the tables saying "Happy Birthday to You!". He loved all the attention he got with both sets of Grandparents there!

Friday (May 30th) we celebrated his birthday at his daycare. I brought in a big tray of cupcakes after nap time and all the kids followed me into the kitchen area. I was more popular that day than I have ever been in my life! The kids loved the cupcakes! Most of them just licked the frosting off the top and left the cake (including Josh). He likes cake, but he loves frosting! It was a reminder to me of how I used to be. I remember eating all the cake first and leaving the frosting for last because it was my favorite. Now, I scrape the frosting off and just eat the cake (Boy, have times changed!).

Saturday (May 31st) was the big day, Josh's Birthday party! There was about 40 people there, including Josh. We got a bounce house, which was a big hit with the kids! If anyone is planning a kids party I highly recommend renting one of these. It cost me $68 and I had a choice of about 30 different styles to accommodate just about any party theme. The kids loved it and it entertained them for nearly the entire party. We also had a pinata. Another great party idea that is relatively inexpensive. We had a Sesame Street theme so I bought an Elmo pinata. The kids (even at 2 years old) were very excited about hitting it with the stick. They all kept begging to be next. When it opened up and all the candy flew out the kids had a field day finding the goodies. Josh and one of his friends each found one piece of chocolate and were happy to sit in the midst of things, unwrap and eat their single piece of candy (life is good!) We had a Cookie Monster cake that was amazing. The supermarket made it for us and all who ate it had blue teeth and lips! It was very funny!

Well, the party was a success! Josh had a great time and John's Parents went home on Sunday. Although, work is still very busy life is starting to calm down a bit. I can hardly believe my Son is 2. I know everyone always says that it goes by fast, but I have savored every moment and I can't imagine my life without him. I don't know that I would describe the last 2 years as fast, I think time is progressing just right. He is at such a fun age right now. He is talking more and really developing his own personality. He is very independent. He is artistic (loves to paint and color). He is compasionate, if he sees another child crying he will try to comfort him/her. When I went to pick him up from daycare the other day, there was a child crying because another child took a blanket away from her. Josh found another blanket and gave it to the sad child and then gently patted her back until she stopped crying. It was so sweet! I love the child he is growing up to be.

As for me, today is day 27. We used the fertility monitor this cycle and we hit all the high fertility days, so I am hopefull. I have made an appointment with my OB for Tuesday (June 10th) if I am not PG this cycle I am hopping he will prescribe clomid. If AF does not show up by Saturday morning, I will take a PG test, so I will know for sure one way or the other by next week. Wish me luck!

That's all I have time for this week!

Thanks for reading,

Janet and Josh
