Janet's Diary Entries

Hi Everyone!

Josh will be 2 in less than 2 weeks! His birthday is May 29th, but his party is planned for Saturday, the 31st. I decided to go ahead and invite his entire daycare class. Anne gave me a good suggestion of bringing cupcakes to school and goodie bags for the kids. Then I wouldn't be obligated to invite the whole class to the weekend party, but there are a few kids that Josh has been with for a year and a half and his friends should be at his birthday party. So, we will have to wait and see how many people RSVP. The party will be at the park, so I figure the more the merrier at this point!

Josh has finally finished teething! He now has all the teeth he will get for a while. He still drools quite a bit, but I have heard from some other Mothers that their children drooled well after teething was over. I think I will mention it to his doctor at his 2 year check up, but I am not worried about it. He is getting better at brushing his own teeth and lately, has been letting me brush them first. I was concerned there for a while that his teeth were not getting a thorough brushing, but now I think his teeth are getting clean every day. I am looking for a pediatric dentist that is covered by my insurance now. I have heard that a child should have their first dentist appointment at 2 years old, so I am looking into this for Josh. I'm not sure how much a dentist can do at this point, but I want Josh to feel comfortable with the dentist, so it can't hurt to give him the opportunity to visit even at this young age.

Josh has been climbing a lot lately. I can't leave him unattended for more than a minute or so before he is climbing on the dining room table or on the rocking chair in his room! I thought my house was baby proof, but now I am wondering if it is toddler proof! He has a foam Tigger chair that he will carry around to give him a boost up to other things he wants to climb on. He has tried climbing up into his high chair and opening a cabinet to use the shelves as steps. I am trying to teach him that he can hurt his body when he climbs on these things, but so far, he doesn't seem to care. Let's just hope we make it through this stage without any major injuries!

Another thing Josh wants to do now is drive the car! When I put him in his car seat he will say "No, Mommy... front seat, I drive" He wants me to sit in the car seat while he drives the car. I have let him sit in the front seat when the car is parked in the drive way (with the emergency break securely set). I sit in the back seat or the passenger seat and he will turn all the knobs on the dash board and pretend to put the key in the ignition. Washing the car is also big fun these days! I will fill up a bucket of soapy water and pour some into Josh's sand pail. I will give him a cloth and he goes to work scrubing the lower areas of the car. This has been great for me because my car is usually so dirty. We have done this twice in the past two weeks, so my car looks really good! Plus it is fun for Josh to be outside, he enjoys being outdoors so much.

Yesterday, after washing our car, Josh found a portable camara. It was in my car waiting for me to take it to get developed. All the pictures were used up, but Josh would hold it up to his face and tell me to say "cheese". Of course, I posed for him and said "cheese". He would push the button and say "good one Mommy!" It was so cute to see him playing the photographer. I guess that is an indication of how many pictures we take of this kid!

As for me, I had a great week off! I completely cleaned out the garage and it is now safe for Josh to play in there. Everything is clean and anything dangerous is now out of reach. I also cleaned out all the closets in the house and organized my shoes. Now we either have to have a garage sale or I have to donate our old stuff to a charity. We haven't decided yet.

AF showed up the week I was off work, today is day 8 and I got my fertility monitor working! It actually was not a problem with the monitor itself, but the batteries were not strong enough to make it work. When I put the new batteries in, I had them in backwards! After looking at it again, I noticed the problem with the batteries and now it is working just fine. I am hoping this is a good sign because I got PG the first cycle I used the fertility monitor last time. Let's hope it brings me good luck again this time around!

That's it for this week!

Thanks for reading!

Janet
