Hi Everyone!
Josh had a great week! As I mentioned in my entry last week, we had a busy Easter weekend planned and Josh had a great time! On Saturday morning we went to the park for an Easter egg hunt. I strapped Josh into his car seat and brought his Easter basket. He insisted on holding it, which was hilarious because it is a pretty good sized basket! When I looked at him, all I could see was a big basket and a little face. It was great the way the egg hunt was organized because there were different hunts for different age groups. The one Josh participated in was for 1 to 2 year olds. I hadn't even thought of separating the kids by age, but I was sure glad they did when it was all over. Those 3 and 4 year olds are fast! and I am sure Josh would have ended up with one egg if all the age groups were combined! They had all the eggs in the play area and most of them were in plain view. It took Josh a few minutes to understand the whole concept of picking up the eggs and putting them in his basket, as this was his first Easter egg hunt ever. He gathered a few eggs and then (with a little coaching from Daddy) he found the GOLDEN EGG!!! it was very exciting and he was able to trade this egg in for a special treat!
After the egg hunt, the Easter Bunny appeared! Josh was very interested in the Easter Bunny and wanted to get closer to check it out. They were charging a dollar for kids to get their picture with the Easter Bunny so there were kids and parents lined up waiting their turn. Josh saw the other kids sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap so he said "Bunny" "Lap". I asked him if he wanted to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap and he said "Yes, Bunny please", so off we went to wait in line. I was a little surprised that Josh was so interested in this because he was afraid of Santa this year and was also afraid of some people dressed up in animal costumes at the Zoo. As we stood in line, I kept showing him the other children sitting in the Bunny's lap and asking him if he wanted to do that too. He kept telling me yes, until we were next in line. When I told him it was his turn he started crying and saying "No, all done all done" "No Bunny". So, we gracefully stepped out of line. As we were walking away, Josh says "Bunny Lap, Please". My child has a love-hate relationship with the Easter Bunny and just can't make up his mind.
Anyway, after the park we came home, had lunch and Josh took a nap. After nap time we colored eggs! At first I was concerned about eggs getting broken and everything getting stained from the dye, but then I decided to let Josh help with everything. After all, we wouldn't be dying eggs if Josh wasn't around so this was all about him. He helped me get the big pot out of the cabinet and fill it with water. He helped me put the eggs in the water (we broke 2 doing this). I think one of Josh's favorite things was dropping the color tablets in each of the cups of water. They fizzed a little and transformed a cup of clear water into beautiful colors within seconds! We both put on old oversized T-shirts and I set up all the dye on a small table outside so we could get as messy as we wanted. I gave Josh one of the eggs and he basically tossed it into the cup of dye (it cracked of course). When I told him to be gentle, he walked up to the cup of dye and caressed the cup gently with his hand, then tossed the egg into the cup (needless to say I had to show him how to gently place the egg in the cup). After dying the eggs, we also had egg paints, so we were able to paint designs on the colored eggs. This was a highlight for Josh and he is quite the little artist. Each color had it's own brush, but Josh preferred to use one brush for all colors so eventually all we really had was brown (LOL!). Although I tried not to let him, Josh kept putting the paint brush in his mouth. In the end, his hands were dyed a color that looked close to black, he had purple paint in his ear, he had wiped his nose with blue and was drooling green! What a site, but he sure did have a good time. I must say I was surprised at how well the dye came off of his skin. I thought it might take a couple of days, but by the next day it was completely gone. As for the eggs we cracked about half of them, but it was worth letting him have the freedom to do it himself!
On to Easter Sunday! We had told Josh the night before that we should leave his empty Easter basket out so that the Easter Bunny could find it when he comes. He kept saying "Bunny Comes" and I explained that the Easter Bunny was going to hop over to his house and leave him some treats. He seemed to like that idea, so Sunday morning when he woke up I asked him if he wanted to go see what the Easter Bunny had left for him. He stood straight up in bed and exclaimed "Yes!" We went down stairs and Josh had a field day pulling everything out of his basket. The Easter Bunny left him a book, some Scooby Doo bubble bath, a toy tractor and several plastic eggs filled with treats. I didn't fill them all with candy because he has had plenty of sweets, so I filled one with goldfish crackers, one with cherrios, one with cookies, and one with chocolate. He loved it! Ever since then he keeps saying "Bunny comes" and I keep having to explain that the Easter Bunny only comes once a year.
Later Easter mroning we went for brunch at a friends house. It was nice because there were lots of other young children Josh could play with. They had a bouncy house and another egg hunt so it was a lot of fun for the kids. Josh, however, did not enjoy the bouncy house. At one point there were only 1 and 2 year olds inside so I took Josh over and he wouldn't go in unless I came with him. We got in together and he immediately started crying and wanted out. I, of course, let him out and that was the end of that. It looks like I will be re-thinking the bouncy house for his birthday party next month!
After brunch we went up to visit with my Mom and Dad. My Mom bought a tea set for Josh and he loved it! My Dad was not too keen on the idea of a tea set for a boy, but Josh was pouring tea in to the cups and drinking his tea. It was really fun to watch him enjoying it so much. After "tea" we all went out for an early dinner. Josh was really good in the restaurant for about an hour and a half, then he was ready to run around and he didn't want to sit in his seat anymore. John and I took turns taking him outside while dessert was ordered and eaten, then we were ready to go home.
We had a great weekend and Josh was worn out by the time Sunday night rolled around. I should also add that Josh has been sleeping later ever since daylight savings time. Although we are putting him down around 8:30, which is his normal bed time, he isn't getting up until about 7:00 each morning. While this is nice on the weekends, it sure makes it hard for me to get to work on time. We'll see how long this lasts.
As for me, I broke down this cycle and bought an OPK. I kept resisting the temptation to do this because they are expensive and they didn't help the last time we were TTC. Today is day 11 and I usually ovulate about day 14 or 15, but I got a positive OPK this morning, which I did not expect. John and I BD last night, so I thought to myself, it is possible that I am PG right now. I wouldn't be putting that much thought into it so soon, but I had a dentist appointment scheduled for this morning and I am a new patient so they were going to do X-rays. I decided that I didn't even want to risk the possibility that I get X-rays and find out later I was PG, so I called the dentist office first thing this morning and now I have to vent. When I spoke to the receptionist, I explained to her that there was a possibility that I am PG and that I won't know for sure for a couple of weeks. I still wanted to come in for a cleaning and that I had no problem with the dentist examining me, but the X-rays would have to wait until I knew for sure either way about the PG. She told me that I had to cancel my appointment for today, that they would not clean my teeth until X-rays were taken. I asked her, if I am PG do I have to wait 9 months to get my teeth cleaned? because I won't be able to get X-rays for another 9 months if I am PG. She said, no if I am PG I need to go to my OB have him confirm the pregnancy and write me a note saying I am PG. I will then have to take this note to their office and they will examine me and clean my teeth with no X-rays.
Am I the only one who thinks that is ridiculous? Why can't they do that now, based on my word that I may be PG? It doesn't benefit me at all to avoid the X-rays, so why would I make up a pregnancy to avoid them? It is fully covered by my insurance so it is not the money. Why would I pretend to be pregnant? I feel like a little kid needing a note from her doctor to get back into school. So, I guess my teeth will continue to build up tartar while I wait to find out if I am PG. I understand that the receptionist is just doing her job and following what ever policy was given to her, but I don't think that policy makes much sense.
Well, that is all for this week. Thanks for reading!!!
Janet and Josh
