Hi Everyone!
Thanks to everyone who responded to my daycare survey last week. The response was overwhelmingly in favor of the kids eating together even if the lunch truck was late. With that said several people commented on choosing my battles and that this was not an issue to fall on a sword over. I have decided that I will still bring it up to the director at a PTA meeting, because I believe that most parents don't know this is happening. Once the information is out and a final decision is made, I will comply with what the director decides.
Josh has had a pretty good week. We ordered one if the iParenting activity calendars and have been having a great time doing the activity every day. Josh loves it and it has given me some ideas that I wouldn't have thought of on a daily basis. Some of the activities are really simple and Josh loves them. For example, the first day we received the calendar in the mail the activity was "feed the birds". I thought that it would be fun, but no big deal. We took a few end pieces of bread and walked down to the park. We broke off a few small pieces of bread and pretty soon there were about 20 birds gathered around us waiting for more. Two other little boys at the park wanted to take part in the fun, so we shared our bread with them and we all had a good time. Josh has been asking to feed the birds ever since! This has been the typical response to just about all of the activities we have done so far. For the most part they are really easy for me to set up and very fun for Josh. The activities vary a lot each day and sometimes it just gives a topic of discussion, which has been nice too. On Tuesday the activity was to "eat frozen peas". Now I like vegetables, but I never thought of eating them frozen. I thought we would give it a try anyway and we both really loved them. I ate as many as Josh did and it was a healthy snack that was fun to eat. I won't give away any more of the activities, but if you haven't already ordered one I know they still have some available.
Yesterday was a fun day for Josh and me. I had my appointment with the RE and got done at about 3:30. My Boss had told me not to bother coming all the way back to the office, so I took the opportunity to pick Josh up early from school and have some playtime together while it was still light out. Ever since October it is dark when Josh and I get home, so play time is pretty much limited to inside the house. We have fun doing things inside, but I have really been missing the long summer nights of staying outside late and doing more physical activities with Josh. Yesterday after I picked him up, we went out for an ice cream cone and then to the park to play. It was like a taste of summer in the middle of winter. Something I would like to do more often.
On the TTC front, I saw the RE yesterday. It took me about 45 minutes just to complete the medical history paperwork and new patient questionnaire! I had no idea they were going to need so much background information that seemed so unrelated to pregnancy and fertility. I am sure it ties into things somewhere, but I still don't know how most of that information is relevant. Then once I got in to see the doctor he asked me another round of questions! I guess it is good to know he is thorough. This is basically what he said:
He thinks I should have no problem getting PG with treatment and says he expects me to be PG within the next 6 months. You would think that would make me feel really good, but my initial thought was that 6 months was a long time. After all I have now been TTC for over 15 cycles (14 months). John's SA came back and was "Excellent" in fact, my OB said "Wow! John has a lot of sperm" Mobility is "good" and this is definitely not the problem. The RE (Dr. H) said that he would like me to have an HSG test. For those of you who don't know, this is a test where they inject die into my uterus via my cervix and then do an X-ray to make sure there is no blockage in my fallopian tubes. It also detects any unusual cysts etc. in my uterus. Flushing the tubes on it's own does increase the likelihood of getting PG because it clears a path for the eggs to come through and assists in ovulation. We are hoping for no blockage, but he thinks this could be a possibility especially because I had a C-section with Josh. Sometime scar tissue that forms after a surgery can cause full or partial blockage. He is also recommending, if there is no blockage, that we do an IUI next cycle to take advantage of the increased fertility. An IUI is when they take a sperm sample from DH and "wash" it (I'm not exactly sure what that means or why it needs to be done) then they inject it into me via my cervix and hope that it makes it to the egg and fertilizes it. John and I will also DTD on our own and hopefully we will have good news to share with everyone in a couple of months.
I talked it over with John last night and we are going for it! I have to call Dr. H on the first day of my next period so they can get me in for the HSG test. He said call any day including holidays and weekends and he will see me right away. I guess I understand now why I had to wait 2 1/2 months for my initial consultation.
I am on cycle day 8 today, so it will be about 3 weeks before I go in for the HSG. We are still going to try on our own this cycle, but it is nice to know that we have a game plan going forward.
That's all for this week. Thanks for reading!
Janet
