Janet's Diary Entries

Hi Everyone!

Last weekend I went to Utah to throw a baby shower for a dear friend of mine. I had Monday off of work for Martin Luther King's birthday, so I was there for 3 days. Originally we had hoped to go as a family and maybe get some skiing in while we were there, but things didn't exactly turn out as planned. John's work did not have Monday off and it has been really hectic at his job. It just wasn't a good time to take a day off, so I went alone. This is the longest I have ever been away from Josh and I missed him so much! I missed John too, of course, but somehow that is a different feeling. I called every night to check in and Josh actually spoke to me on the phone a couple of times! Usually he isn't too interested in talking on the phone, so I really was lucky. With a little prompting from Dad, he said "I lu yo". I almost started crying I was so happy! Those three little words can really make your week! After hearing that all I wanted to do was go home and hug my little man!

As for the baby shower, the Mom to be was having contractions all weekend (and she is not due for a month and a half!). About a week before I got there she went to the hospital because she was having contractions every 2 minutes. They gave her a shot of something to stop the contractions and gave her a shot of steroids to help develop the baby's lungs just in case they had to deliver early. I almost cancelled the shower because I thought for sure the doctor would put her on bed rest, but he didn't! He just told her to take it easy and not to over do it. This is hard advice to follow because who decides what constitutes over doing it? Oh well, so far the baby is still safe in Mom's womb but the contractions continue.

As for Josh, he is really growing! I am not sure how tall he is now, but I can tell you that his pants are all too short. While I was in Utah, I went to Kids R Us and got him several new pairs of pants and overalls. I like the overalls because Josh is tall and thin, so pants that fit in the length are often too loose in the waist. Sometimes, when he is running around, they just end up around his ankles!

He is also very interested in boxes and bins. He has some plastic bins that we put his toys in. He likes to throw out about half of his toys and get into the bin to play with the rest. He does the same thing with cardboard boxes. He loves it when John pushes him around the house in a box! He has a big smile on his face and keeps asking for more when John ends the ride.

As for me, I am on Cycle #3, Day 11. I am feeling a little passive about getting PG in the next few months. I have mentioned before that I get really busy from October to January, so I was kind of hoping that my kids would be born between February and September. Don't get me wrong, I won't be any less thrilled to find out I am PG at the end of this cycle, but it will just mean my life will be a little busier during that time of year and I can live with that!

Well, that's all for this week!

Thanks for reading!
