Hi Everyone,
Josh had a great time at Snow day last week! The school brought in 8 tons of snow, much more than I thought it would be. They were able to build hills for the kids to slide down in saucers. The kids built snow men, threw snow balls and romped around in their snow gear. I had no idea there was going to be this much snow! I also didn't think it would last long because it was a warm day (in the 70's) and I thought it would melt pretty quickly. From what I understand they got it going early in the morning and it lasted until late afternoon. Next year I am definately taking the day off for snow day, so I can share the fun with Josh.
Josh and I had the day off on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday. One of the Mothers from Josh's previous daycare center hosted a reunion at the park for any kids from the daycare who wanted to attend. Josh and I went and had a really good time. Although there were only 2 children there from Josh's class, I got a chance to catch up with some of the other parents. It was actually nice to hear that most of the other parents are having a hard time with the transition to the new schools as well. Besides, a day in a different park is always fun!
I feel like such an over protective Mother because I am so picky about everything concerning the care for my Son. I have an example and I would like all readers to give me your opinion on my board. Josh's new school provides an optional hot lunch program. It is catered by a local restaurant and is a healthy and hearty hot lunch that is brought to the school daily at lunch time and delivered to each of the classrooms based on the number of children signed up for hot lunch that day. You can send a packed lunch with your child, but they are not able to heat anything up, so you are limited on what foods you can send in. You can sign up for the lunch everyday, one day a week or when ever you want it and the cost is $3.50 a day. I was discussing the hot lunch program with Josh's teacher and she mentioned that occasionally the lunch truck is late and it is hard for the children (2 1/2 year olds) to understand why some of their classmates are eating their sack lunch, but their hot lunch is not available. My question to her was, on days when the truck is late, why not just delay lunch for all the kids by 5 to 15 minutes until they can all eat together? She said no, that wouldn't be fair to the kids who have their lunch available to them and are hungry. Personally, I think that policy is crazy. Of course you can't expalin to a 2 1/2 year old why half of his friends are eating their lunch, but he has to wait! I think they should change their policy to extend early afternoon activities until the lunch truck arrives so that all the children can eat together. I have been packing Josh's lunch most days and signing him up for hot lunch 1 or 2 days a week in the hopes that if the truck is late, it won't be on a day I have him signed up for hot lunch. Am I overreacting? (My husband thinks I am). What do you think?
A) No, I am not overreacting and all the children should eat together regardless of what time the lunch truck arrives.
B) The teacher is right, it wouldn't be fair to delay the lunch for the children who have lunch available to them.
C) Who Cares, it is a silly issue to begin with
D) Other
Seriously, I am very interested in other peoples perspective on this so please let me know what you think.
On another note, my husband has just learned that he will loose his job at the end of June this year. The software division of his company is moving to Boston and we do not want to relocate with the company, so his last day is June 30th. Although, I have concerns about him being unemployed in this economy, I am happy that he is leaving his present company. I can only hope that the next job he takes allows him to spend more time with his family. Currently his job is about an hour drive away from home, so he spends 2 hours in the commute alone each day. Because traffic is so bad he typically leaves before Josh wakes up in the morning (to beat the traffic) and is home by 7:30 at night. Josh spends one hour with his Dad before he goes to bed during the week. Weekends are much better, but still he has to respond to e-mail or do the occasional paperwork over the weekend, which cuts into our family time.
In addition to the long hours, I also feel that he is unappreciated by his boss and that is the worst part. I know that I should be thankful that he has a job, and I am, but I am looking forward to the chance for him to work for a company that gives him a little more flexability and recognition for the hard work that he does.
As for TTC, today is day 1 of cycle 16! Yep, AF showed up this morning to end another disappointing cycle. John will be going to the lab for another SA, although we really don't think that is an issue because his previous one had great numbers and mobility. Even though it was done over 3 years ago, my doctor doesn't think it would change dramatically. My appointment with the RE is next Wednesday, so I will post an update in my next entry.
That's all for this week, thanks for reading!
