Janet's Diary Entries

Hi Everyone!

I typed an entry about a week ago, but I don't see it posted, so I am going to back track a little.

Josh had his first teeth cleaning! He went for his first dental appointment about 4 months ago. I took him to a pediatric dentist that had been recommended by a friend. On his first visit, he saw the dentist and started crying. She just looked at his teeth and said that she was not going to give him a cleaning because he was upset and she didn't want it to be traumatic for him. This time, we had talked a lot about the dentist and how nice she is. We practiced opening our mouthes for the dentist and Josh seemed ready to go for another visit. This visit was great! We didn't see the dentist this time, the hygienist did his cleaning. She was so good with him! She really made the whole thing into a game and the flavored cleaning pastes and floss were like treats. I thought Josh would be scared when she turned on the polisher, but she told Josh to listen because it sounds like a Mouse's motorcycle and the sound didn't seem to bother Josh at all. Once the polisher was turned on she tickled Josh's fingers with it. Once she got him giggling, she asked if she could tickle his teeth. He immediately opened his mouth for more of this game. Not only did she clean his teeth, but she also gave him a flouride treatment and flossed his teeth with Cherry flavored dental floss. Now, Josh loves for me to floss his teeth and brushing is even easier than it was before. Sometimes Josh will tell me he wants to go to the Dentist and I am so thankful that I chose the dental office that I did. Instead of being something he dreads, Josh actually looks forward to his next trip to the dentist!

Since my last entry, we celebrated The New Year and my husband's birthday. We spent New Years Eve down at a local beach club with my Sister and her two boys. They had a big event just for kids and Josh loved spending it with his cousins! My Sister and her family live in Hawaii so we don't get to spend as much time with them as we would like. We tried to share every moment we could with them on this visit because we don't know when we will see them again. The beach club party consisted of an all you can eat buffet, a big bouncing house with a slide, and an Elvis impersonater singing songs to the kids. We rang in the New York New Year (which is only 9:00 pm, our time). This was great because it really made the kids feel like they participated in the celebration, but they didn't have struggle to stay up until Midnight. To top off the evening they had a big fireworks show. Everyone had a great time! We said our goodbyes to my sister and her kids, as they flew home on New Years Day.

John's birthday was pretty quiet this year. I feel bad for him because it is so hard after all the holiday festivities to come up with something fun and exciting for him on his birthday. I bought an ice cream cake (his favorite) and Josh and I each gave him a gift. We spent the evening of his birthday at home, but took him out to dinner the following night, which was a Friday. Josh really enjoyed helping me put all the candles on the cake. The goal was to keep all the candles on the top of the cake, which proved to be challenging for Josh at times. When all the candles were lit, Josh was amazed and John let him help blow them out. Although it was quiet, we did have a nice time together as a family.

Josh started his new school on Friday, January 2nd. I am happy to say, he loves it! Drop off is so easy, it almost makes me sad. He loves his teachers and his new friends and he especially loves the class turtle (Pheobe) and the class Bunny (Oreo). Although, I am still adjusting to the change in teaching styles and running of the center I like it more and more every day. I have learned that if you aren't happy with something, speak up you can usually find a resolution that all parties are agreeable to. The school is having "Snow Day" tomorrow and I am really looking forward to this for Josh. Living in Southern California, we don't see snow much. Josh did get a chance to visit the snow in Utah for the first time this year, but this will only be the second time he has ever seen or played in the snow. They are bringing in a snow machine and loading the play area with fresh snow! Unfortunately, I won't be there to see it, but I am excited to hear all about it when I pick him up tomorrow.

As for TTC, today is day 20. I have my appointment with the RE scheduled in about 2 weeks, unless I am PG this cycle. This is my second cycle trying some fertility herbs and we are still hopefull every cycle. After 14 cycles of no luck we just don't really expect much. This is my 15th cycle and it has been over a year since my miscarriage. I am starting to make a list of the questions I have for the RE and am really hoping he can answer them and help us grow our family.

That's all for now, thanks for reading!
