Introduction

Well, another week has gone by. The days until Christmas have passed by so quickly, I can hardly believe it! Last year at this time, Claire was a 4-month-old who had no earthly idea what Christmas was all about. This year, I think she has a little bit of a better grasp on the concept! We have digital cable at our house, so we have a TON of music channels. There is one that plays all holiday music and we listen to it all day it seems like. Claire absolutely loves it! She dances around, bobbing her head and does this little dance we like to call her "peg-leg" dance. She hobbles around in a circle like one of her legs is wooden or something. We have NO IDEA where she picked that up from. But, that's Claire, dontcha know!!?? She has been "helping" me (if you want to call it that) bake Christmas cookies and wrap presents. (This actually means she has been grabbing my legs while I bake and unraveling the curling ribbon as I wrap gifts.) She thinks she is helping and I figure there's no harm in letting her think that. At least for now!! ;0) Oh (No! Not the ... ) Christmas Tree ... Claire has decided it is her duty to completely undecorate the tree! She watched us in awe as we decorated it two weeks ago and was completely amazed by the whole process. Since then, she has pulled off no less than half of the ornaments. Every time I leave her in the living room for even a split second, off they go! I've tried to put them back on, a little higher each time, but now our tree looks silly and lopsided. I'm very picky about my tree, so this little habit of hers is making me slightly nutty. She hasn't touched the presents yet, thank goodness. I wasn't going to put any of them under the tree, but figured, it didn't matter at this point!!! I think she doesn't bother with them because they are under the tree pretty far, and she HATES the feeling of the tree branches. She always has. Anything that has any odd kind of texture, totally repels her. YEAY for that!!! The Stockings Were Hung ... Yup, the stockings are up, the presents are wrapped, cookies are baked and the house is decorated. Now we are leaving to go to Pennsylvania for the whole week of Christmas. We have had no parties, no friends over, no pictures taken in front of our tree. Why the heck did I bother!!?? Well, I started to think about that and realized I wanted Claire to have some nice memories of Christmas in our home, regardless of whether or not we will actually be there for Christmas Eve and Day. She'll know she was important enough and special enough for us to try to make our home look beautiful and festive for the holiday memories I'm hoping to instill somewhere in the back of her heart. Ohhhhh Oh, Mexico!!! Well, we're on our way!!! We have decided to fork out the dough and go on a bon-a-fide vacation!!! Woo-Hoo!!! We are leaving in the middle of January for a five day getaway, Claire in tow. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!!!!!! Beaches, swimming pools, food (oh yeah, FOOD!!!) and drinks galore!! I think Claire is going to get a big kick out of it! She loves to swim and that's all I plan to do while we are there! She still fits into her bathing suit from the summer. Now I have to find one for myself. In the dead of winter. Great. Well, I'll begin my search soon enough! Look out Cancun, Here comes Claire!!!!!! That's about all for now. I'm REALLY hoping to be able to get online while we are on holiday this coming week, so I can get a Christmas entry in. Cross your fingers! We hope you all have a WONDERFUL holiday season!!! Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!! Enjoy yourselves, your families and friends this WONDEROUS time of year!!! Best to you all! Ho Ho Heather and Chris Cringle
