Hannah's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 20, 2001

Well, the coverage of "Attack on America" has slowed to reports only during our national news programs. I heard tonight that Bin Laden has been asked to give himself up of his own free will, intersting to see if that happens!!! I am torn between a war, for revenge purposes and simply mourning those lost lives and moving on. But how do you move on!!! War means more lives lost, but I guess it won't be in vain. Oooohhhh, the anguish I feel for you all.

Louis is on the mend after having a tummy bug last week. I stayed home with him on Tuesday and Wednesday as he wasn't keeping anything down. We took him to the hospital that night due to lack of anything staying down all day and the paediatrician looked over him and said that he wasn't dehydrated but to give him only fluid for awhile. She said to give him sports drinks which have salt in them to give him some energy. Wednesday he was a little better but he would play for about 5 minutes and then lay down on the floor for a few minutes rest. He looked so skinny and lethargic which broke my heart. He was very cuddly and clingy, therefore we've had terrible nights and he is only now getting back to his old routine.

We have decided to wean him from his bottles as he approached 18 months of age. At home he has a bottle and his dummy to go to sleep but when he's at daycare or at my sister's house he only has his dummy. He knows that home is where he gets everything!!! Last night was the first night he went without and it wasn't too bad. He was very upset when he went to bed and I got him up after half an hour of crying and cuddled him to sleep, whilst he was holding a cup (I've realised that it doesn't matter if it's a bottle or a cup). He cried in the early hours of the morning, pointing to the kitchen for his bottle, but I didn't give in. He had a daytime nap today, crying himself to sleep because he couldn't have a bottle, the same happening tonight. I'll admit that tonight was much easier. So, I've put the bottles away so he can't see them and I'm hoping that he'll have forgotten all about them in a few days..fingers crossed.

The weather is becoming increasingly warm which suits me fine. We haven't had a cold winter but it's been inconsistent which annoys me. Because my boy loves the outdoors the weather has been in his favour. We still love to kick balls.......soccer, netball, basketball, football. He lets them roll down the driveway to the front fence so he can chase them. Very cute until his little legs get away from under him and he has a tumble. He fell today but continued to LIMP after the ball.

He said "shoe" this morning after getting Cameron's joggers out of the cupboard. I also love it when he says "more" as he puckers his lips in the process. Books, books and more books. We can sit in his toy room (which is ready for him to graduate to at Christmas) and look at 20 books in a sitting. There is a particular book which has a page where I whisper when reading it as a baby is sleeping. He turns to that particular page and whispers jibberish.....I laugh under my breath as it's just the cutest.

Well that's it for this week. I hope that you are all safe and well, and coping with the most horrific thing to ever happen in my lifetime. My prayers are with you all, especially those who knew someone who lost their life and to those military families who have just waved goodbye to a loved one in anticiaption for war.

Good luck to Rena and Peggy who are nearly ready to give birth to our 'hope and future'.

Love to you all
Hannah & Louis XXX
