Hannah's Diary Entries

April 26, 2002

How did I get here??? 3+ weeks to go until we welcome a new little addition to our family. I've been explaining to Louis that Mummy will have to go to the hospital and the doctor will get the baby out. He'll stay at home with Daddy for a few days while Mummy sleeps at the hospital and then Daddy and Louis will come and pick Mummy and the baby up to take us home.............a long winded story for a 2 year old to comprehend but surprisingly he gets it. Now, we can actually see the hospital from our front porch (it's on a hill) and my darling little man has taken to standing on the porch, looking at the hospital and shouting "Doctor, doctor, doctor!!!" (and not quietly I might add). He keeps lifting my shirt up and saying "doctor get baby out" whilst trying to lick my extroverted belly button (Yuk, it feels gross). He really does seem to understand what's going to happen which pleases me and I really don't think he'll miss me all that much when I go to hospital.....he's actually excited about staying home with Daddy (they play Lego blocks every day now, so the draw card will be an all day session of blocks I imagine).

My 36 week check up went well.........so well that I don't have to go back until I'm 38 weeks. I'm just way too healthy!!! My blood pressure is great, I've put on no weight in the last 2 weeks but baby has grown (I know this for a fact), there's no traces of anything nasty in my urine and I don't have any swelling. Now, boring comes to mind but I'm assured that 'healthy' is the way my Obyn likes to see PG women. I'm thinking that by waiting 2 weeks to go for my next visit is a good thing as it will mean I'm almost knocking on the door of delivery by then. I've been popping numerous pills - Raspberry Red Leaf and Evening Primrose Oil just to 'assist' dilation. I didn't dilate with Louis due to a cone biopsy I had done years ago which left scar tissue. I've been told that it shouldn't cause a problem now that I've had a baby so I thought I can only try and aid the process by taking 9 capsules every day!!! (Yes, I rattle when I walk....LOL).

Louis seems to be very excited about having a little baby. I'm sure his opinion will change when all it does is cry, eat and sleep. I keep telling him he'll be able to show the baby how he kicks the ball and builds blocks, etc. which probably won't help when Hugh does arrive but I can only hope.

Louis has become really affectionate these last few weeks. He keeps coming up to me out of the blue and kissing me........I love it of course, despite the force he sometimes uses when he mashes his little face into mine!!! On that note, take care and kisses to you all.

Love Hannah & Louis XXX
