Eloise's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 19, 2002

Get me a mental laxative I've got writer's block!

I've started 3 diary entries in the past two weeks and thrown them all in the bin. I get two pages in and get so BORED that I can't finish. I'm really in a bad way. Everything I write bores me to distraction. So let me give you a quick up-date after which I'll probably be head down on the keyboard, snoring, from listening to the inner drone of my writing!!

Strange that I can't write at the moment, because I am in a blissful state of mother-love these days. Pixie is THE CUTEST she has EVER been in her life before, and I have now decided that 2 1/4 is by FAR the best age yet! Everything about my girl is divine and delicious and I spend as much of the day as possible just marvelling over this gorgeous wild creature I have the joy of mothering. She is seriously gorgeous - seriously... SERIOUSLY! Her gorgeousness blows my mind - perhaps that explains the writer's block - a few too many blown fuses!!!!!

These days she says the cutest things - things that are painfully cute - as in so cute they HURT! Last friday night we went to an indoor shopping complex. It was light when we went in, and dark when we came out. As we walked out into the dark carpark Pixie comes out with this: "Night-time now. All the cars are asleep." How cute is that huh?

And she is terribly excited about Easter. She understands the whole concept after I sat down one day and told her, and is waiting with eager anticipation. Whenever she sees an easter decoration she says, "Easter bunny comes. To Pixie. Through the gate. Leaves chocolate eggs. Pixie excited." Every now and then we have to play 'easter bunny hides the eggs' wherein Pixie closes her eyes while I hide some hand-painted eggs we've got. Then Pixie carries her little basket around the room and finds them. She's good at finding them because she cheats - she always opens her eyes a crack when I hide the eggs and watches me. She's so smart and funny these days it's mind blowing!

She's obsessed with bandaids too. She's fascinated by them. The other day she called to us from the couch, "Pixie got a sore tummy." When we came rushing in to fuss over her she pushed us away and declared, "Need a bandaid. Make it betta."

Ahhhhhhhhhhh....so incredibly cute. These are the heavenly mothering days I fantasised about all those pregnant years ago. Days of playdough and finger painting, make-believe games and exploring the world with such wonder and joy. And my little girl so gorgeous with her wild ringlets and shining eyes and her observations of the world. Who said the two's were supposed to be terrible?????????????????????

Best wishes to all,

Eloise and Pixie.
