Introduction
Hi moms and dads,Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoy the evening, as well as the next millennium, and that no Y2K bugs bite you. :-) We are not doing much – hanging out at home with the family and being mellow.
We had a nice Christmas. We went to visit my grandmother and did nothing but eat and play with the kids. They got many new toys and nice clothes. CJ had a tough time realizing that the girls’ gifts were for the girls and not him, though they did a nice job of sharing with him – they had no choice!
The exciting news here is that Julianna took her first step! She has been cruising the furniture for about a week, but just yesterday, Alvin was on the floor with her and she was standing up alone not holding onto anything, and she took one step toward him and fell into his arms. It was beautiful! He was so happy to be able to see her first step, since he was at work when CJ took his first step two years ago. I imagine Cassie will be walking very soon – yikes!
Cassandra is also making moves. She is now pulling herself into a standing position on her own, and I enjoy finding her standing in her crib. It’s a relief to see her developing so well, even if it’s at a different rate than Julianna. She’ll probably start to cruise soon.
They are eating more and more solid foods, and both now prefer to feed themselves rather than have us feed them. They love bread and bagels, crackers and chicken, fruits and vegetables. Julianna is still scary to feed, since she keeps having reactions to new foods. Over Christmas, she broke out in hives when she tasted a tiny bit of orange Jello! The moment it touched her mouth, she flamed up. Then today, she tasted some turkey breast and the same thing happened. It’s so bizarre – and frightening, since I worry she’ll have breathing problems. We just have to watch her carefully and take things slowly with her. I hope she outgrows this.
I wish you all the best in the year 2000!
Elisa, mom to CJ and C & J
