Hi,
Ah, the joys of potty training. I'm trying to train three kids at once now: CJ, who resists because he wants to be a "baby" like his sisters, and Cassie and Jules, who want to use the potty because their "bro-tho" is learning how. It’s an interesting situation! We have three potty chairs in our living room, and every night after dinner, it’s potty training hour. The three kids take off their own diapers (for the most part) and sit on their respective chairs (which are all the same, because if one is different, they all want that one!). They then clamor for the sticker box.
We bought a bunch of different stickers, cut them up into individual pieces, and scrambled them all into an old shoe box. So each time they sit on the potty, they can choose a sticker. CJ also has a sticker chart, where he can place his stickers each day. They get an extra sticker if they actually make pee-pee on the potty. So far, CJ has gone once, and we have had further evidence of pee in a potty, but have no idea who did it!
I am hopeful that this strategy will work, as CJ is really getting into the sticker chart and looks forward to it each night. He is hoping to get the stegasaurus sticker, but I told him he could only have it if he makes pee-pee in the potty. So, we shall see!
The girls are really into it, too. They will probably train more easily than CJ. At least I hope so! They are talking so much. They repeat so much of what I say! I have yet to cut their hair, and it’s getting long. When wet, it goes more than half-way down their backs, and when dry, it springs up into soft curls.
CJ had a haircut the other day and did great! He sat there quietly watching Thomas the Tank Engine and was a great, brave little boy. For someone who used to scream at the first sign of the salon, he was amazing, and I was so proud of his progress! He actually rode on Thomas the other day. The Illinois Railway Museum had the real life version of Thomas there to ride on, and CJ was in heaven. Thank goodness for things like that, which give kids such great memories. He’s been talking about it ever since!
Have a great week!
