Hi everyone,
How do these weeks fly by so quickly? I can’t believe it’s Friday again. And what a Friday: 10 inches of snow fell today! It just kept falling, furiously, all day long. It was eerily beautiful, and if I didn’t have to leave the house, I would’ve enjoyed watching it with my kids longer than I did. CJ woke up, looked out his bedroom window and said, "Oh, wow!" The girls just seemed transfixed.
Cassie and Jules continue to delight and surprise us with their walking and talking. When they want to be picked up, they hold out their arms to us in invitation. Jules is taking it one step further – she now says, "Uppy!" It’s so adorable.
They are feeding themselves fairly well with a spoon, though they’ll also use their little fists to really get the food in. They rarely eat baby food any more, knowing that we’re not eating it, so why should they? They want to eat whatever we're eating. Some good meals are small pieces of chicken breast, plain pasta, assorted cooked vegetables and slices of pear or apple. They eat independently so much better than I remember CJ doing. He preferred for me to feed him, and then when he did start feeding himself, he wanted everything cut into small pieces. These girls prefer larger pieces they can bite and chew on.
They’re getting their first set of molars in! It has been painful for them. The ones erupting are the lower right and left, next to the four teeth that are already in. The girls chew on their hands a lot, as well as anything else they can find! I hope the teeth come in soon so Cass and Jules can feel better.
They still wake up at least once a night each. The schedule goes: I work until midnight, get woken up at 3 a.m., nurse Cassie, wake up at 5 a.m., nurse Jules, up for the day by 6:30 a.m, courtesy of Cassie or CJ. I wonder what it would feel like to sleep eight hours in a row…
Hope you’re sleeping more than I am!
Elisa
