Hi everyone,So I got home the other night and there were my girls – wearing ponytails in their hair! I couldn’t believe it. They looked so grown up to me; like little girls rather than babies or toddlers. The babysitter had gotten tired of seeing their hair in their eyes (it’s really long and kind of curly) and brushed it back into little ponytails right on top of their heads. It was kind of a right of passage into girlhood – no more baby hair! They actually had a hairstyle!! And they looked so similar at that moment that I nearly – for the first time – couldn’t tell them apart. But I did know who they were, and I just laughed out loud.
We’re all healthy, for the moment. I’m just running around like crazy, as usual, between work and home life. The day is like a wild beast that runs away with me and I don’t stop until midnight each night. The girls still wake up at 4 a.m., so the sleep deprivation is with me always.
I hope you’re sleeping more than I am, and that all of your kids make you smile as much as mine do. Don’t forget to take time for yourselves: I’m getting my hair cut for the first time in a year tomorrow and I feel guilty that I’m taking time for myself! It’s going to be a pleasure, though.
Elisa, mom to CJ and C & J
