January 7, 2000
Hi everyone,It feels strange to write out the year 2000. Seems so futuristic!! Anyway, happy new year again.
I realized this week that I forgot to write about the girls’ one-year doctor appointment. It went really well. I can’t find the paper where I wrote down the exact measurements, so I’m going to try to remember what they were: Julianna was 21 pounds, 4 ounces, putting her in the 50th percentile for weight. Cassandra was 19 pounds, 14 ounces, putting her in between the 25-50th percentile. That’s the first time they’ve been at average or below! LOL! Funny how they’re retained that pound and a half weight difference since early on in their lives. For height, they were the same: 29 inches, which puts them in the 75th percentile. So maybe they’ll be taller than I am! I can’t recall the head circumference, but the percentiles were 75th for Cassandra and between the 50th and 75th for Julianna. So, the lighter baby has a bigger head – go figure!
They get more and more fun every day. Cassandra is so sweet; she rests her head on my shoulder when I hold her. She enjoys rocking with me and drifting off to sleep that way. She holds up her arms for me to pick her up – she loves to be held.
Julianna has a great sense of humor; she finds things to giggle with me about. Her favorite game now is to point to herself so I will say “Julianna,” and then point to me so I’ll say “mama.” She likes to pull off her sock when she’s nursing with me, and then we laugh about it. She’s definitely a “lovey” baby, meaning she likes to hold onto something when she sleeps. So that she won’t take off her socks at night, I’ve given her a handmade cloth diaper that a friend of ours monogrammed for her (and Cassandra) and she clutches it in her crib.
Have a great week!
Elisa, mom to CJ and C & J
