Diana's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |

2-1/2 weeks until TREMENDOUS TWO!! (Maybe the positive thinking will keep the Terrible Twos away!! *fingers crossed*)
First of all, I have to apologize for slacking off with this diary. I just got here, and already I am behind. All I can say is I'm sorry.
Now, on to the fun stuff!..
Jessica is doing so great with daycare! She had a shaky first week or two, but now she is just wonderful.. well, most of the time. If I drop her off at breakfast time, she still throws a little fit.. but if I can leave while she's still in the regular room, she is perfectly fine. So.. as long as we get there a couple minutes early, I can get away scot-free without any tears.
She is picking up so many new words these days. I think it's from being at daycare. There is only one little girl that is younger than her, and most of the children are at least six months older than Jessie. Every day she amazes me with at least one new word. For example, within the past couple weeks she has said: "beep-beep," "round," "happy," "Jessie," "upstairs," "truck," "tractor," "bear," "booty," "seat," "bounce," "roll," "nap," "night-night," "water," "mine," "keys," "out," and lots more that I can't think of right now. I know that she is still behind most children her age, but I am so proud of her for picking up so many new things! She can now identify the following body parts: eye, eyebrow, nose, hair, cheek, chin, mouth, tongue, belly, belly-button, booty, leg, arm, foot, hand, fingers, toes. She loves to sing/play "Ring-around-the-rosie" and "If you're happy and you know it." She showers me with kisses and nice big hugs all the time. What a joy!!
School is going okay, although not wonderful. Truth be known, most of my classes are incredibly boring so far. I am still aiming for the 4.0 again, but I'm really not expecting more than B's in most of my classes. I don't have many papers to write, which is a load off my mind as far as work, but it means that my grades will be based on tests (Uh-oh!) and/or a couple papers and/or group projects/papers/presentations. NOT fun. I am amazing at writing papers, okay at taking tests (I've never been very good at studying), and not so good at group work. Oh well. I guess I can't get a 4.0 ALL through college. Hehehe.
I have had some family stress lately too. My grandfather is finally starting to recover from his bouts with encephalitis, c.dificil, and various infections.. but my grandmother is now suffering from some sort of vegas reaction. I think she is just exhausted and stressed from taking care of my Grandpa all this time with little or no help. On top of that, my other grandmother (in Puerto Rico) just had another surgery. Hopefully this will improve her condition greatly. Add to that a 16-year-old stepdaughter who just up and decided to move out.. and you've got a formula for maximum stress. She's going to live with her mother, who pretty much lets her do whatever she wants whenever she wants with whomever she wants. I just hope she uses the brains God gave her and keeps her daughter at least partially reigned-in. My stepdaughter is a good kid, but she is 16.. and we all know that 16-year-olds can be totally different from the kids they were even at 15. How does that happen so quickly? Maybe I'll find out in my Adolescent Psychology course!
Anyway, I am supposed to be working on my presentation (that I have to give tomorrow) on adolescent egocentrism. Oh boy, this is going to be a breeze.. it's not like I haven't seen any examples of adolescent egocentrism lately!
Until next time....
