Hello Everyone!!
We can't believe the summer is halfway over. My brother remarked to me yesterday that Rich and I seemed to have had an incredibly busy summer. I agreed, but I also said it's been one of the most enjoyable summers I've had in a long time. I loved the fact that we were able to spend so much time with the family. I also loved the fact that Nathan is old enough to enjoy summer. He has been running and playing since the very beginning of the season, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
This past weekend we went to a picnic at the farm of one of Rich's friends. It was great fun. There were lots of kids for Nathan to play with and lots of good food....although he was entirely to busy to eat. Toward the end of the evening things began to wind down and everyone was in the house talking. Nathan put on a good show for the crowd by showering much love and affection on one of his girl cousins. Everyone ahhed and oohed in delight as he gave her hug after hug, followed her around the room and even kissed her once or twice. While everyone else was enjoying the show and taking pictures, his parents kept a watchful eye to make sure the hugs didn't turn into hits or bites. Fortunately all went well. I even commented at the end of the evening that I was delighted about how well behaved he was.
Nathan continues to amaze us every day. Not only does he have a laundry list of words he has picked up, he is now starting to string sentences together. What a little communicator he is! He is also very curious about things and likes to explore. Sometimes I feel quite bad that I have to tell him "no" so often throughout the day. But then I remember all the toys and books he has and realize that I am not being unreasonable for not letting him play with the stapler. His latest accomplishment is that he tells us when he has done a "number two" in his diaper. I have taken this as a clear sign that he is ready to be potty-trained. Other mothers have warned me not to get my hopes up.
Now, I must get back to re-packing the boxes Nathan unpacked while I typed this entry. We will be able to move if I can just keep one step ahead of the little guy.
Take care,
Rich, Debbie and Nathan
